    from cbc.ca:

Chrétien says without the backing of the United Nations, Canada can't go along with any war initiative.

    :)

    I watched the address, snore.

You know Bush really has a lost look in his eye. Kind of like a puppy dog waiting for his treat.

That address was pretty boring, and it didn't give us any new information. The 48 hour ultimatum had already been reported by CNN.

I am also very happy that we will not be involved. :)

    Knock yourself out, Bush.

His ending, "God Bless America" was cheesy.

I didn't see it, but I assume it was along the lines of Bill Pullman in ID4.

Nah, not that dramatic. But I'd rather Bill Pulman as president than Bush. ;)

He ends every speech with that.

Bush isn't able to make a speech that dramatic.

    Or a cave.

    With a bear.

One of my teachers described him as talking like a Hallmark card: cryptic and all in three line soundbytes.

I prefer to describe him as talking like an uneducated war-monger: propaganda all in one-syllable words.

So do I. Someone needs to teach Bush the consequences of war, because I don't think he really understands them.

I don't think he cares about that.

That little country has almost as many people as all of Canada. Baghdad alone has 5 million people.

Well, one way or another,it seems like it all boils down to history.

America is invariably the current world Empire. Warfare, Economy, and Politics revolve around it. Heck, even the United Nations headquarters his stationed in America. Like a world empire, America is trying to dictate the rest of the world, believing themselves to be the apex of righteiousness and that everyone should follow their lead. The Romans were the same during the height of their, and so were the British.

But like all world empires, they must fall and be replaced. The Romans grew soft and became invaded by Germanic dissidents. The British sort of got phased out into the background. Nazi Germany pushed too far and got knocked the f%$# back thanks to WWII.

I feel the same thing is going to happen to America. Maybe this war won't accomplish that, but with the UN refusing to back them up in this war, it seems to show that now the world is refusing to obey and abide by what Big Brother tells them.

Of course, that's just my opinion. I could be wrong.

Heck, even the United Nations headquarters his stationed in America.

That means nothing. The NATO headquarters is in Belgium.

I agree, America will fall. Just not now. Probably not even in our lifetime. I'd like to see it, but I know I probably never will. With every war, every terrorist attack, every nation standing up to them, every problem in the American economy and their society, they get a little bit closer to falling. When they do fall, I think it will be a combination of all of these things. It'll happen gradually, over time, and Asia will probably rise to take its place.

The question is, when America does fall, what will happen to Canada? Will it benefit us, or hurt us? Time will tell.

America may already be in the process of falling. It's just going to take a long time for it to actually hit the ground.

I live in Tucson, AZ and I think that you all need to stop dissing the U. S. of A...

No, I'm just screwing with you. I am a Republican, however, I didn't want Bush. All he is trying to do is finish what his father couldn't. This war is also about oil. You do notice that as soon as the troops entered, he started having his oil fields burned...

If we did elect Gore (which would have been about the same... blagh), we probably wouldn't be going to war because Gore has no reason...

I really don't like what the US does when it tries to be the "World Cop". The Iraqi people didn't even want our help... Come on, Bush!

Alright, now I've said what I can't say in my "free country". Thanks for the opportunity to vent all that. :D

Thanks, DarthBabe. I just had to get that out. I'd been waiting to do that for quite some time, but couldn't find a place to do it. I guess I've got a friend in the Moncton FF... :D

But you're allowed to speak your mind in Canada!
