I just realized that I'm not on the PM list for this story!!! I would love it if you would add me, even though you're close to finishing it. I was so excited when I saw the update- this has been one of my favorites for a long time.

I always love your take on Kyp. No matter what you throw at him, in your stories I always feel like he is in character, wheter he's a Sith Lord or a amnesiac or simply a good friend and Jedi, I can't get enough! Great job!

I haven't been to the boards here for a while and when i finally came back I found this story updated! Wow! Thank You, You made my day.
There's still going to be an epilogue, doesn't it? You know, about Mestra adjusting to prison life... :p (joking)

    I liked the story, Dantana.

I especially enjoyed the little girl, Kaylee; little kids can be so cute. She was rooting on Kyp's side quite firmly, which is good; he needs all the support he can get. And Kaylee jumping up and down with glee at the proposal scene; [face_laugh] [face_laugh] my guess would be she was the only one welcome there. [face_laugh]

I thought at first you had revived Zeth Durron, some way or another; they would have been perfect strangers. Although the age difference would be a bit large.

    All in all, great story!

Oi! I remember this story from forever ago! My old Screenie was AvaVisara (forgot all the info and it's on an email account I haven't used in years) so I made a new one and just stumbled across this story again! I was pretty much browsing all your fics, they're wonderful!

You are very talented, keep up the wonderful work and I'll keep on reading <3 Toss me a PM when you post this last chapter if you don't mind :) I'd really love to finish this one <3

    So, guess what?

New chapter! Also, there's another one after this.

Also, I think this 'fic has the longest PM list ever. I'll have to do several tag posts to accommodate.

    --Chapter Twelve--

Jaina stripped off the elbow-length gloves and, since they had blood stains on them, dumped them in the trash. She paused there, watching Kyp recline on Luke's repulsorcouch, with Kaylee in his arms. The scene was just so perfect, it made both love and anguish swell up within her. How had she ever thought to keep Kaylee from him? How had she thought she could ever be with anyone else?

He looked up and without a word, reached a hand out to her. Jaina took it and settled beside him, to run a hand over their daughter's hair.

"I should have told you," she began.

    "Told me what?"

"That I was pregnant. I knew, and I was confused and angry-"

Kyp sat up, holding the sound-asleep child close. They spoke low, so as not to wake her. "I knew," he said.

    Jaina stopped. "What?"

"Well, 'knew' is a bit of a stretch. I suspected. You were tired, cranky, throwing up, and we'd been there two months and you hadn't, er . . . We were in close quarters, Goddess, I noticed a lot more than you thought I did."

    Her cheeks turned pink. "Oh."

"But I wanted you to tell me. When you were ready." Kyp kissed the top of Kaylee's head and shifted her from one arm to the other. "I'm sorry I missed everything."

Jaina reached out and touched his cheek. "Me, too. But I recorded everything. I mean, I don't have a recording of her first words or anything, but I've got a holovid of her first steps, and even of her birth."

He laughed softly. "Not sure I'll want to watch that just yet." He twined his fingers around hers.

A knock sounded at the door. Before either could move, it slid open and Vash stepped in.

There was a long, awkward silence. Jaina's former fiancé cleared his throat.

"Vash," Jaina said, and stood. Kyp made no protest, knowing where her affections lay.

"Jaina." He glanced at Kyp, then looked at the woman he loved and had intended to marry. "I . . . This isn't how I planned this evening to go. I'd hoped . . . You know what I'd hoped. And I'm sorry that- Stang, Jaina, I'm sorry that my mother did what she did."

Jaina shook her head and crossed the space between them, taking her hands in his. "No need to apologise, Vash. It's not your fault. Your mother's a cold, manipulative gundark of a woman, and she played us all. I need to apologise to you, because I shouldn't have led you on, even before Kyp came back."

"Led me on?" he repeated. "What makes you say that?"

She sighed. "I care about you, Vash. You've been a wonderful friend, and despite Kaylee's misgivings, you'd make a good father. But I don't love you, not the way I should to marry you. I thought I could, eventually, but Kyp . . ."

Vash turned angry grey eyes to the Jedi Master. "You couldn't stay away, could you?"

Kyp shrugged one shoulder. Kaylee had stuck her thumb in her mouth and had a fist in his shirt. "Apparently not. You know I had no choice in how these things played out."

The other man snorted. "Except for that spectacular mess you made of the wedding."

Jaina narrowed her eyes and poked him in the chest with a finger. "For your information, Vash, I was about to break it off when Kyp came in. And it was your mother that ordered the guards to attack him."

He opened and closed his mouth rapidly, like the sparklefish Kaylee loved so much, then hung his head. "If you had doubts, you could have told me."

"You're right. And I should have." Jaina cupped his face in her hands. "I'm truly sorry, Vash. I hope that one day, you can forgive me. I hope you can find someone who can love you the way you deserve to be loved. That woman just isn't me."

He placed his hands over hers, much as Kyp had done just minutes before, and lifted them away from his face. "I think . . . it would be best if I didn't speak to you for a while."

    Jaina nodded. "I understand."

Vash gave a shudder, then shook his head. "The two of you might as well use the trip to Mon Calamari, seeing as it's paid for and I need to be here for my mother's . . . arraignment. That is, I'm assuming you're going to be . . ."

He stopped, and let out a long, heavy sigh. Then he looked solemnly at Kyp. "If you hurt her in any way, Durron, I'll skin you alive."

    Vash turned and walked out.

Jaina exhaled explosively, and turned to Kyp. "That was awkward."

"At least it didn't come to violence this time," the love of her life responded from the couch. "I've seen enough of that to last me, oh, the rest of my life."

He shifted to put Kaylee down, and then rose to his feet. Jaina reached up and ran her fingers through his dark curls.

"I've fallen in love with you twice now," he whispered. "I hope I don't have to do it a third time."

Jaina smiled. "No. From now on, we're together. For better or worse."

"I like the sound of that."

He pulled her close and lowered his head, kissing her with a slow tenderness. They were still wrapped in each other when Luke entered, followed by his wife, Han and Leia, and Jacen.

"I hear there's still a wedding," Han said, a little loudly, and they jumped apart with a laugh.

"Yes," Jaina said, and her face was filled with more joy than her father thought he'd ever seen.

Leia sighed and shook her head. "The Force works in strange ways," she said finally. "If this is what you want, go for it. I want you happy."

"It is," her daughter assured her. She went to wake Kaylee. "Wake up, sweetheart, you don't want to miss this."

Han held his sleepy granddaughter as Luke conducted the impromptu ceremony. It was the Jedi one, rather than the other vows that Jaina had chosen for marrying Vash.

When Luke pronounced them man and wife, Kyp kissed his new bride for all he was worth.

    -----

He'd bought a ship with the credits he'd discovered he had, and he escorted his small family to it. There was no question of Kaylee joining them for the trip. She'd refused to be separated from either parent, and Jaina didn't have the heart to force the issue.

Still in her wedding dress, Jaina dropped into the co-pilot's seat of the Star Chaser after getting Kaylee settled in what was now her cabin. She watched as Kyp worked with the navicomputer and gained clearance from planetary security.

"What are you thinking?" he asked, without looking over. He needed to keep an eye on the air traffic as they headed for the atmosphere, but was skilled enough as a pilot to divide his attention between that and his new wife. Just the thought had him grinning.

"Part of me can't believe that this is real," Jaina admitted. "I thought you died. And here you are."

"And we're married," he pointed out.

"And we're married," she echoed, and lapsed into silence.

Finally, they reached the edge of the planet's gravity well and he keyed in the command to jump to hyperspace. Then Kyp turned in his chair.

"I just remembered something," he told her.

She lifted both brows. "More memories?"

"Of a sort." He pulled his lightsaber off his belt. "When I was going through my things, when I couldn't remember anything, I found a little box, a ring box, but it was empty. It's been nagging me ever since, wondering why I had it, what was in it. But since I couldn't remember, I didn't have any answers."

    "And now you've remembered?"

He nodded. Kyp unscrewed the end cap on his lightsaber and tipped something glittery out into his palm. "I picked this up the morning after that night we spent together. I had this crazy idea that . . . I don't know, I'd convince you someday, maybe on Marclonus. Until Mestra's goons kicked me in the head, I had no idea that I'd been going around for five years with this in my duffel."

He took Jaina's hand and slid a ring onto her finger. As he'd suspected, it was a perfect fit. She had to smile as she studied the silver band, with a scatter of inlaid gems in white and shades of blue, like stars dotting the sky.

"It's beautiful, Kyp," she told him. "But wait. You wanted to marry me back then?"

He gave her a look. "I've been in love with you for fourteen years, Jaina. Of course I wanted to marry you back then."

Kyp stood and held out his hand. "Come on, Mrs. Durron, we've got unfinished business between us, and all night to see to it."

She placed her hand in his and let him pull her to her feet. "I like the sound of that."

    "What?"

    "Mrs. Durron."

Kyp kissed her firmly on the mouth. "Good, because I'm going to be saying it a long."

He swept her up in his arms and carried her to their cabin.

Okay randomly logged on here again and decided to read something. Im not sure why but the chapters all seem to cut of early. (I can see quotes of story i can't see), I'm guessing they changed the word limit or something. Anyway I'd love to read this again if it is posted in full somewhere.

There was a word limit in place when they imported everything, so anything over that is cut off. At some point, now that the word limit thing is gone, they're going to reimport and fix everything. They're just not sure when that will happen.

I'm in the process of putting this story up on kypandjaina.net. Eventually, all of my stuff is going to be there. If you haven't joined yet, you should!

They keep claiming they'll reimport the database, but it hasn't happened yet. I need to post it to the K/J archive. In fact, I don't know why I haven't yet. Shall I PM you when it's up?
