Somehow they are over .500 this season. However, there's still September to go.
Even if the Mariners finish a touch under .500 this season I think we have to consider it a huge success. Jack Zduriencik managed to transform this club from a 101-loss team into a honest-to-goodness competitive team in under one season by finding loads of undervalued talent that was flying under the radar of every GM not named Billy Beane.

The Mariners don't have much left TO mess up.
