[PET PEEVE] "It's all good"....

Please stop saying that.

Especially if you are a professional business type executive talking to me about things that are supposed to be serious, instead of something like fried chicken (or grilled chicken even).

 

it bothers me when people start an explanation with the word "basically"
it bothers me when people read out the names in their acknowledgements slide
it bothers me when people say "so what we did," in a presentation

I have been known to say "it's all good", but never in a professional capacity. Although I have used it on junior staff when they've botched something up badly to avoid knocking their confidence.

 

it bothers me when people read the whole slide, like the people they are presenting to are illiterate. Basic points people. Especially if you have hand out.


Funny story. I was once in a meeting where one of our facilities was letting folks present to the higher ups. We had just purchased this company and some folks were getting early retirement, some involuntary.

This one guy who had been told he was going got to give a presentation. When we walked in the room, he gave us the "handouts" for his presentation. 175 slides and he read them all.

Goes to show you don't always have to blow the building up to make suits suffer.

 

Yeah, but the explosion is much more fun to watch.
