    Hilarious quotes in the OP.

Poor rich celebrity on his way out, nobody likes him anymore, he's sorry for being so successful.

i have always loved phil collins and i always will. i went to see his 'first farewell tour' about seven years ago, so i'd say he really hung in there as long as he could stand to.

poor phil. it kills me to see him apologizing for himself. it's not as though he was some raging despot or soulless egomaniac. he didn't steal his best friend's girlfriend and then throw her away five years later like a piece of trash (CRAPTON). he was (and is) such a down-to-earth, humble guy, even at his cockiest and 80's-est. and even then, he was just giving the people what they wanted - quality entertainment! is that so wrong? sure, the socially conscious ballad period was kind of irritating, but he was just trying to use his talent for something good. is that so contemptible? and phil collins did not ruin genesis - he helped give the band a new lease on life. is that so odious? and if you think the collins era is bad (it isn't, but if you think it is), check out the album they made after he left. it's so ****** you can practically smell the poop coming out of your speakers!

i salute you, philip collins, and extend my thanks and appreciation to you for all the great (and not-so-great) music you have brought into the world. best of luck to you and the fam.

Where did Phil Collins record the song Sussudio?

    In his stu-stu-studio.

(An old joke from Mad magazine, I just had to post in response to this thread)

I don't know who this guy is, but based on the quotes in the OP, I presume he's the father of the emo genre?

Personally? Collins' line about not being able to put up with what is currently passing as music on MTV spoke to me.

It's not the first time a classic artist has spoken up against what passes for musicians the music industry is now days...if you can call them musicians and not:

"Look at me! Look at me! I can't write or sing, but luckily the record company has less-attractive people to write lyrics for me; and as for singing, the computer fixes that little problem...but, I've got awesome hair and a great ass!"

Makes you wonder how far Janis Joplin would have gotten in today's industry.

(Not that there is a written in music history that you can't been talented and attractive. [image=http://26.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_l1m0w8nst31qbfqnno1_500.jpg])

If Phil Collins can't play drums or sing anymore, I will call it a medical miracle.

    Dear Mr. Collins,

I'm sorry you're feeling sad and forgotten. Might I suggest:

    1) Offer to sing the U.S. national anthem at a sports event, then get snockered
    and forget the lyrics.

    2) Wear clothes made out of meat.

    3) Steal jewelry.

    4) Stand on your patio and bang a machete on the balcony.

Now you and the world can be friends again.

    Yours,

    CUO

Phil Collins had Tarzan. Peter Gabriel had Wal-E. And I think that sums it up nicely. Collins was post classic Disney, and Gabriel was golden age Pixar.
