Dunno. Possibly. We're also always open to suggestions for a more central location for our meetings. But for now, Mesa Atomic Comics is the largest spot we can find that everyone knows of already, and that's "geek friendly."

    I'd like a newsletter...

    gwhodges@hotmail.com

I have some experience doing newsletters (for work) and I used to do a comic strip for the school paper up at NAU, so if you need to pass some special project off to someone, you can keep me in mind...

    Country Club and Southern
Right next to Gold's Gym, Bookman's, House of Fitness, and the 99 cent store. Where the old Xian store used to be.

If you're looking for a more central meeting place... has anyone tried All About Books And Comics? They might be "geek-friendly" - the last few times I was there they had card games, people hanging out, etc. The shop is at Central and Camelback, in Phoenix.

How many people show up and how much room do you actually need?

    A lot and... a lot. :D

Okay - we get about 25 to 30 people at the very beginning (during the first hour or so, for the actual meeting), then people kinda dwindle and bounce in and out. It's also good to have a TV (preferably large) and VCR and/or DVD player. A large space is good too, so we're not interfering with the other store customers.

Master_Duron: Thanks for the suggestion, but we generally try to keep at least the official meetings in a public place. That's mostly for security and liability reasons. Security meaning we don't want a new member to worry about meeting a bunch of strangers at someone's house. A public place is also generally easier to find for someone who is new. The liability reasons have to do with the (hopefully remote) possibility of someone being injured, etc.

Gotcha! I own an insurance brokerage so I do understand about liability problems. Didnt think about safety and people feeling uncomfortable.
