Phrases repeated throughout the Saga!

We all know that George Lucas has described the Saga like poetry... different stanza's rhyme and echo each other.

What specific phrases appear in at least 2 different Star Wars films?

We have the obvious ones:

* "May the Force be with you"
* "I have a bad feeling about this"
* "This is where the fun begins"

Out of curiosity, can anyone list more phrases that are repeated?

 

That scream is in every Star Wars film, I couldn't really tell you exactly how it sounds, but you know what I'm talking about.

 

I could be wrong, but... I hear "Your thoughts betray you" all the time. Or perhaps it's only in the OT.

 

besides Burtt's infamous Wilhelm, I think also do not underestimate/you underestimate ______

happens a few times, I guess.

 

I for one always hear "I have a bad feeling about this"

 

One I've picked up on is
"You're going to get us both killed."

Anakin says it in The Phantom Menace during the space battle. R2 responds with a few beeps and tries to over-ride the auto pilot.

It is said in Revenge of the Sith during the beginning. I won't go into it.

There is a version of it in A New Hope. While they are in the garbage, and Han shoots at the walls, Leia screams something to the effect of "Put that thing away! You're going to get us all killed."

I believe that "I have a bad feeling about this" is the only one in all 6 movies. Others like "May the Force be with you" are recurring, but not in all of them. I find it starts to get annoying hearing "I have a bad feeling about this" again and again.

Kenobi says it to Anakin in AOTC when they are talking about Padme. "Be mindful Anakin your thoughts betray you..."

That's the Wilhelm scream, I think.

 

Heh, they just did an article on the Wilhelm scream in the Calgary Herald. I had heard of that recurring scream from a friend, but had never believed it until then. I'll have to start looking for where it is in each movie.

 

im a film and sound design student and the wilhelm scream is an ongoing joke with sound desgners. I believe Ben Burt was the one who came up with it but since Star Wars it has been used in more movies than any other sound effect. Im not sure of all the movies it is in but the Lord of the Rings trilogy, the Die Hard trilogy, the Indiana Jones trilogy are 3 examples. Almost every action and adventure film since 1977 has had this sound in the movie at some point sometimes they have it playing behind other sounds but its always there somewhere.

 

Ben Burtt did not come up with the Willhelm scream. It was first used in an old western movie from the 1950s (I think). It was used many times since then, as a stock death scream. Burtt has used it in all the SW movies and it's been used all over the place.

Common thread of fear. Apparently, fear is a large downfall of a Jedi

Interesting to note that Yoda doesn't like to train those with fear, BUT when Luke says that he's not afraid, Yoda seems to shelve his other faults and agrees to train him. Indeed, Yoda puts aside Luke's impatience, anger, thrist for excitement and adventure, and allows him to be rained once Luke clearly communicates that he is not afraid. Yes, Yoda does tell him that he will be afraid, but....he gives in. I think that's important.

Also, another scene in ESB:

"My hands are dirty, too. What are you afraid of?"

"Afraid?"

Yes, fear seems to be a common link.

The fear was an interesting point. I guess it falls in with the "Search your feelings." "I have a bad feeling about this" is just about the same thing (fear wise).

Think about it: Fear is the epitome of uncontrollable emotions. It drives everything we do. It caused Sidious to be (said in ROTS); it's the "bad feeling" line in every movie; it's what everyone can sense in Anikin.

Read what you will, I'm just making a point.
