The phrase "I promise" comes up quite a bit too. Don't know if it really means anything, other than that maybe Lucas needs a Thesaurus.

TPM, Obi-Wan to Anakin: "You will become a Jedi, I promise"

AOTC, I think Anakin says it during his tirade in the Lars' garage

ROTS, Padme to Anakin and vice-versa when they are talking about her not dying in childbirth..."Anakin, I won't die in childbirth, I promise you." Anakin - "No, I promise you"

TESB, Luke to Yoda and Obi-Wan as he's getting ready to leave for Bespin " I will return...I promise"

ANH/ROTJ - Can't think of any examples off the top of my head. For some reason, I'm thinking Obi-Wan says it too Luke at some point.

Palpatine says "I (can) assure you..." quite often, as do others.

Well, Luke inaudibly screamed "NOOO!!!" when Vader told him that if he wouldn't turn to the dark side perhaps his sister would, if that counts.

I don't think anone has mentioned "What the?"

It's said by Vader in ANH (in his TIE fighther), a stormtrooper in ROTJ (on Endor), and by a random alien in AOTC (during the Coruscant speeder chase).

Does anyone know if there are "What the?"'s in TPM, ROTS, and ESB?

In Episode III, Obi-Wan and Anakin, along with Palpatine/Sidious, are hauled before General Grievous. Grievous says to Anakin that he "thought someone with your reputation would be a little older."
Anakin replies to him, "You're shorter than I expected."
Fast forward twenty years, when Luke disguised as a stormtrooper appears to Leia as she's in her cell on the Death Star. She asks him, "aren't you a little short for a stormtrooper?"
    Another interesting parallel.
    Another happy landing.

Given that the two trilogies appear to be "mirrors" of each other, then the films as pairs mirroring each other(ANH and ROTS; ESB and AOTC; and TPM and ROTJ) should share common elements, including dialogue. In ANH, C3PO asks R2D2, after seeing his damaged state, "R2, can you hear me?" Compare that to the Emperor asking Vader, after seeing his new state after being injured severely, "Lord Vader, can you hear me?" In ANH, a robot built to resemble a man and understand men (human-cyborg relations) but with little evident "humanity" is asking this of another robot that has strong elements of humanity and life. In ROTS, a man utterly without humanity, whose human face has been "deformed" or taken off an no longer looks quite human, and who understands men so well he can manipulate and take over a galaxy, asks this of a man who as a result of his too human qualities and emotions has been deprived of elements of humanity and life, literally made more robotic. The real robot cannot speak, yet is understood, and the man made robot has difficulty breathing without a machine ("I can't breathe" AOTC) and can't understand what he has done ("What have I done!" and his crying on Mustafar). Eventually, when once again he recaptures his humanity in ROTJ, it is when he "hears" his son and stops listening to the Dark Lord at his side. He can once again see with his own human eyes and breathe freely, if only for a brief moment.

Where? I need to know where. Is that in the SW books? Or on AOTC DVD? I mean, I've AOTC on video tape and this quote isn't there. Actually I didn't thought that Qui Gon would compare again in the saga, after TPM.

    ROTJ

Leia: Why are you asking me this?

Good I have been looking for something like this on here.

    ROTS: Anakin says easy R2.
    ROTJ: Luke says easy Chewie.

ROTS: Palatine says to Mace Windu you will die.
ROTJ: Emperor(Palpy) says to Luke Skywalker you will die.

    ROTS: Padme says I'm afraid.
ESB: Luke says I'm not afraid.

Edit: Nobody put this is were the fun begins-Anakin and Han.

In ROTS, Obi-Wan says to Anakin: "You're gonna get us both killed". I know he says it exactly the way someone else says it in another episode, but I can't remember who or where.

You mean in the trash compactor in ANH, when Han shoots his blaster and it bounces of the walls?
Luke shouts - "You're gonna get us all killed!"

    Thanks :)
No, I know that someone somewhere says "You're gonna get us both killed".
Wait, I just remembered - It's Anakin to Artoo in TPM!

I hate to say it, but it was actually
"R2, get us off this autopilot, it's gonna get us both killed!"

It was the autopilot that was endangering them :)

    Oh, that's right! [face_blush]
It's still an echoing line, though. Especially since Obi-Wan says it with the same melody.

Near the end of Attack of the Clones -
Sidious to Dooku: "Everything is going as planned."

Near the beginning of Return of the Jedi -
Sidious to Vader: "Everything is proceeding as I have forseen."

    Edit-
sorry, I just noticed this one has already been posted.

I wanted to make this point anyway, The ATOC quote comes at the time of the beginning of the end for the Jedi, the ROTJ quote is spoken at the beginning of the events that will lead to Sidious's fall.

    The Phantom Menace:

    Nute Gunray: "And the Jedi?"
Sidious: "The Chancellor should never have brought them into this. Kill them immediately."

    later -
Sidious (to Nute Gunray): "Wipe them out. All of them."

    Revenge of the Sith:

Vader: "What about the other Jedi spread across the galaxy."
Sidious: "They're betrayal will be dealt with. After you have killed all the Jedi in the temple, go to the Mustafar system. Wipe out Viceroy Gunray, and the other Seperatist leaders."

haha, poor old Gunray. He was the wiper, now he is the wipee ;)

Sidious orders the Sepearatists to wipe out people loyal to the Republic, in EP1.
In Ep3 Sidious orders Vader, who believes he is working for the Republic, to wipe out the Seperatists. Very appropriate that he uses similar wording.

    The Phantom Menace:

    Padme:
"I've decided to go back to Naboo."
    Palpatine:
"Go back? But your majesty, be realistic... Th-they'll force you to sign the treaty!"
    Padme:
"I will sign no treaty, Senator. My fate will be no different than that of our people."

    Revenge of The Sith:

    Anakin:
    "He seems to be alright."
    Palpatine:
"Leave him, or we'll never make it!"
    Anakin:
"His fate will be the same as ours."

    cool
