    Quite a lovely tribute from Gilmour on his homepage;

No words from Roger, but still touching: http://www.roger-waters.com/

Funny this thread should pop up. I just found out about Richard Wright's death recently. I listened to Animals in remembrance (even though my wife thinks Pink Floyd is boring).

My girlfriend hates both Pink Floyd and Zeppelin, my two fave bands of all time :( but I love her much more than their music [face_blush]

    Thanks, I will :)

and just in time to save this thread for being forgotten...

Got Gilmours "live in Gdansk" a while ago. I saw him live twice back in 2005 (in Hamburg and London), first one wasn't that good, but the second (Royal Albert Hall) was fantastic. Then, when I heard the CD I thought at first it was like the first show I saw, a little under average, but after several listenings I realy love it, play "Shine on you crazy diamond" very loud, and it really sounds fantastic :) and "Echoes" still gives me shivers down the spine when I hear it played live

Pink Floyd stop individual digital track sales and may recieve a payout from EMI for breach of contract.

As much as I respect artists' right to "preserve the artistic integrity of their albums", this move will only hurt them in the long run. People want to pick and choose, iTunes is proof of this. If they're forced to buy an entire album just to listen to one track, then a torrent is only a few short clicks away.

Discounting the album price might be a better way to maintain their integrity, but I can't see that happening.

It's probably as much to do with renegotiating the contract as any 'artistic integrity' issues.

    LOL.

I don't like listening to any song off Dark Side of the Moon unless I'm hearing it right off the album. Bothers me the way the indivudual tracks start and end abruptly.

My digital version of DSotM is a rip from my CD, so I just used a gapless encoding. Voila! No abrupt gaps in the tracks.

That said, I do agree that the album is better when taken as a whole rather than just picking and choosing certain songs to listen to. If Money isn't followed immediately by Us and Them, something just feels off.

I've seen him live twice, and would lowe to see him once more. The Wall was the album that introduced me to Pink Floyd way back in the mid 80s!

Cross my fingers that he will be visiting Denmark once again :D

Not surprising in the least, but nice to know at least Roger is open to working with David again.

    More at the link.

It wouldn't really be the same without Wright anymore.

Though to be fair, Wright had almost no input on the creative aspect of the Wall. He only toured with them for it after being shut out of the creative portion of the project. And even while touring his role was limited at that point.

Its really Waters and Gilmour that you'd need for a decent tour of the Wall right now.

This is true, although I was thinking more in the context of Floyd as a whole, not just the Wall tour.
