ST Pip Andersen in Episode VII

Pip being Finn's friend doesn't preclude using Pip for his acrobatic skills later on in the production.

Then again, Abrams could pull a Malick on us: Announce the casting, then reduce, alter or eliminate their role in the editing room.

I'm thinking Pip Andersen could be a Mod/Rocker pirate. He's either a leader or one that is set apart from the others. We actually got the Rocker #3 name from a trailer at puzzlewood last summer and we know Andersen filmed there. It's possible this gang of pirates track the heroes to Rose and alert Kylo Ren. Or this specific pirate has another role to play.

Speaking of which, Kylo Ren is a name that was lifted from the droids cartoon character, Gir Kybo Ren Cha. He was a pirate. Those flashback sequences seem to indicate the Seven loot the dwellings of the clan after a battle and Ren is present. So there's some sort of pirate theme going on. Han Solo being the most famous good guy pirate.

Is Kylo Ren their leader? Do they team up with the Empire?

It is scary how much Pip looks like Jensen Ackles in this photo.

 

It would seem likely that the gangsters who turn up on the Freighter would have some conversation with Han and that would mean a speaking part for one of the bad guys at least. They don't do casting announcements for non-speaking roles. I could quite imagine Pip using his skills to jump from crate to crate whilst they are being repulsor-lifted around the interior.

 

It could be Anakin Solo.

 

There is a near equal chance that he is the 13th Doctor.
