Date: Saturday May 26th (for the numerically challenged, that is next Saturday)
    Place: George St Cinemas
    Time: 2:20pm (?)

Currently there are only 4 times for the movie on that day listed, but that may possibly change on Wednesday when they do their site updates.
How does everyone feel about 2:20pm? Or would 6pm/9:30pm be better for people?

Be there or be.. squarer than we geeks are already aware that.. we are...! :-B

How long is this movie anyway? I'll have to leave before 6, since I've got something on that night. I doubt that'd be a problem anyway :p

Actually, it could be kind of tight.
2:20 session, plus the half hour of trailers and crap that they always add on at George St, means at least 2:50 before it starts, and the film is nearly 3 hours long.

    I really hated it Diva.

I couldn't connect with a single character, they were all horrible people.

Lin and I remembered wwe had free tickets for warriewood cinema, and just got back from there.

i really liked it. This is what the second film SHOULD have been! Still didnt have the unique charm of the first, but wasnt half as lame as the second!

Ok, it was better than the second one for me, but I still have problems with it.

    HTR

*A whole armada at one's disposal, on BOTH sides.. and the battle takes place with only 2 ships? Whose brilliant idea was that?? Am I the only one who got psyched for a big battle and was sorely dismayed when there wasn't one?

*They picked the wrong relationship to centre on. The Davey Jones/Calypso plot line could have been fascinating, but it was introduced so abruptly, and then not resolved whatsoever. Instead, we get the whiney waffling of Elizabeth and whatz-his-face. The other relationship had so much more potential for a beautiful tragedy but they did nothing with it. Come to think of it, did that sub plot ever end up serving any purpose at all?

*Barbossa: Most. Underused. Character. Ever. I want my old Pirates 1 Barbossa back.

*Regarding the multiple Jack Sparrows/mini Jack Sparrows: Pick a genre you would like to tell a story in, and stick to it. It was totally out of sync for the films. Yeah, it was funny, but it was from too far out of left field and felt wrong. You don't do that in a film that is traditionally structured, and the original film was just that. Then again, I hold the same argument with Anakin and his stupid dreams in ROTS, so perhaps it's just a pet hate of mine.

*The ending irked me. Why must Hollywood movies always have the 'Oh that [insert character name here], there he goes, [insert typical activity], back to his old hijinks again, nothing changes!' ending? It completely detracts from any character growth and is quite corny because it is done so frequently. I'm sure Jack grew at least a tiny bit during the course of the three movies, so the ending should reflect at least some character change.

*In agreement with Shad, I too felt no attachment to the characters (apart from Barbossa). In fact, for me the most moving sequence of the film was when the ship with Beckett on it was destroyed and sunk - and he was supposed to be the bad guy!

    </end rant>

All that said, I didn't regret using 3 hours of my time on it. I still had fun. :)
