Amph Pirates of the Caribbean 5: Dead Men Tell No Tales

Seriously, **** off with these movies already. JCers, do your part and ignore this trash.

It won't be hard to predict the exact wording of your review.

 

They resolved the story strands at the end of the 3rd movie, 4 was weird and 5 is just unnecessary.
It might be good, but I expect more of the same.

the first one was fun. all of the sequels have been absolute garbage.

 

Everything after the first one was "unnecessary." In that they weren't good. I haven't seen the fourth film, so maybe I'm wrong!

 

My son loves these movies, so I'll no doubt be seeing this in the theater. The last one was pretty boring, so I don't have high expectations. I liked the first three, though.

Four had a disappointing villain and largely had to be held up by Geoffrey Rush (who had a wooden leg filled with rum, just because). There was no Black Pearl because it was stuck in a bottle (with Jack the undead monkey) and the general idea of finding the Fountain of Youth wasn't that interesting.
The other 2 movies at least had Davy Jones and previously established characters like Elizabeth and Will Turner. On Stranger Tides didn't even have Ragetti or Pintel, so the only links with the previous movies were Sparrow & Barbossa. Although the latter was at least changed to make him different, Sparrow was the same old shtick and got rather boring.

 

Didn't they already use Dead Men in another title?

 

Which is why I consider OST to be more of a side story that simply happens to be set in the same universe, despite the fact that it picked up the Fountain plot thread from the end of AWE.

 

That was Dead Men's Chest, but this is a different line, one from the original ride, so I'll let it pass.

 

I'll be going to see it. I absolutely LOVE the first one. The rest have serious issues, but also enough good moments to keep me watching.

Is she really that good to have a "bargain bin" version? Isn't that like talking about a "cheap" version of the Great Value in-house brand of Walmart food stuffs?

Really enjoyed the original, thought the 2nd was too long, had a lot of fun with part 3, and enjoyed enough of film #4. So, **** the negativity, I'll look forward to part 5.

 

Like Ronald Reagan, the first film was sort of surprising in some ways, given what it was, but still pretty terrible in most respects. However, the relative success spurred a series of increasingly eccentric and unworkable successors that tried to replicate parts of the formula with ever diminishing returns.

I am expecting this to be about Rick Santorum level.
