Plane Crash in New York

Apprentley it hit the twin towers...

I saw a thread in the JC but all news sites are blocked

 

same here, just got into the beeb site. two planes have crashed into the twin towers, one of them a 737 passenger jet.

 

OMG....it hit the tower and exploded. They're saying it was hijacked.

I can safely say my fear of flying is justified

 

BBC News, and otehrs I guess, have shown footage of the second aircrafty (737) hitting tower two I think and a massive explosion flying out from the other side.

 

I can't get into CNN.com so I'm watching it on tv. Two planes crashed into the world trade center. They're saying it's terrorism.

Christ guys, this isn't supposed to happen here.

None reported yet but you know there has to be. Bush is interrupting broadcasts for a comment soon.

 

Holly Sheit, I would make a wise crack joke at this time but I choose not too as it this is kinda bad.

 

I'm watching it now on BBC1, they reckon that at least one plane was hijacked. They are also saying that at the moment 6 are dead and a 1000 are injured.

 

As an Aero Engineer - if it was 2 planes into some towers like that - lots (300+?)

I just read that 10-15 floors are affected most.


Can you imagine how many people work on 15 foors of the World trade centre.

NEW YORK (Reuters) - Two planes have slammed into the World Trade Center towers in lower Manhattan, an eyewitness has reported.
Both towers were burning following the impact of the planes, a Reuters reporter at the scene said.

The tragedy happened at the start of the business day in New York. There were no immediate reports of casualties but the twin towers house around 50,000 workers.

Some reports said the first plane was a twin-engined jet liner. It slammed into one of the towers, about 20 floors from the top, prompting an explosion. The second plane crashed into the other tower, at a lower level. It also caused an explosion and huge clouds of black smoke could be seen billowing from skyscrapers.

 

I was up there two weeks ago. just got my photos back.

 

BBC 1, BBC News 24, CNN, SKY News, ITV news are all covering it.

ABC have suspended programmes in the US to cover as well apparently,

I would imagine this is on pretty much every channel by now.

 

Oh god....

One of the planes was an American Airlines 767 that took off from Boston this morning. They have no idea what happened.

Bush was useless. He simply called it an act of terrorism.

It's effecting 20 floors. They've suspended trading for the day.

 

I can't get into the beeb site or cnn - anyone else having these probs?

Neil (in my office) got into The Guardian site.

 

They are now saying they were both passenger plans that were hijacked in Boston.

 

BBC News has just said that both planes were hyjacked in Boston and then flown to New York.

 

Oh lordy...
