    Some interesting mirrors regarding locations.

    TPM and ANH

The main players in the PT seem to gravitate to Coruscant over the first couple of films.

    Anakin's journey: Tattooine --> Coruscant --> Naboo
    ...
Luke's journey: Tattooine --> *Alderaan* (Destroyed and replaced by DeathStar) -->Yavin 4

Starship's route is diverted to Tattooine (where they discover and pick up Anakin) on the way to Coruscant (Republic).
/// Starship's route is passing Tattooine as a backup plan (discover and pick up Luke and Obi-Wan through droids) on the way to Alderaan (destroyed link to Republic replaced by DS and Empire).

Notice where Alderaan is wiped out and leads our heroes to the Deathstar, Coruscant - the falsely hopeful corrupt central planet in the Republic - is a grey mirror to the DS.

    Maul is after the Queen.
Later on Coruscant a change of plan; Palpatine lets Padme leave Coruscant back to Naboo, but has informants there.
/// Vader is after the Princess.
Later on Deathstar a change of plan; Tarkin and Vader let Leia leave DS to Yavin 4, the Falcon being tracked.

Plus in TFA the good guys are also tracked back to the Resistance base, leading SK base there.

The old Jedi Temple location shown at the end of TFA seems to be more natural than the centralised Coruscant Temple...

    Anakin's journey in Ep2:
    Coruscant -->Naboo -->Tattooine

Back home, where he loses his mother again, permanently this time.

    AOTC beginning: City – Coruscant
/// ESB beginning: Wasteland – Hoth.

On mission to Naboo - “Don’t worry, we have Artoo with us.”
/// On mission to Dagobah - “Don’t worry Artoo, we’re going.”

Romantic seclusion. “My Jedi protector will have to prove how good he is.”
/// Detached Jedi training. “We’re not going to regroup with the others.”

Central (Republic) system Naboo /// Excluded hideaway Dagobah.

Naboo is left to rescue Shmi (failed), then Tattooine is left to rescue Obi-Wan (failed). Yoda has to bail them out twice (once in the arena and once after the Dooku duel).
/// Dagobah is left to rescue Leia and Han (failed), then Leia rescues Luke.

    Kamino / Dagobah

“It's not a system I’m familiar with...” /// “There’s something familiar about this place.”

“If an item isn’t in our records, it does not exist.” /// “Now all we have to do is find this Yoda, if he even exists.”
Jedi stubbornness vs Luke pre-training stubbornness.

Obi-Wan is less perceptive than a child due to adult preconceptions – “Because someone erased it from the archive memory.”
/// Luke is stubborn – “Strange place to find a Jedi Master.” ... “How could you know my father, you don’t even know who I am!” ... “Size matter not.”

Obi-Wan sent to Kamino. “There it is R4, our missing planet of Kamino.”
/// Luke sent by Obi-Wan to Dagobah. “That’s it R2, Dagobah.”

Obi-Wan has been expected after many years /// Luke has been expected after many years.
Kamino is erased by the Sith, “hidden” /// Yoda is in hiding from the Sith after the events of the PT.

AOTC starts with a false heaven in the clouds
    [IMG]
/// ESB ends with a false heaven in the clouds.

AOTC ends with a desert ground battle
    [IMG]
/// ESB starts with a snow ground battle.

Republic invades Geonosis /// Empire takes over Bespin.

That's all I can think of right now[face_peace]

Yeah I guess that did get a little unintentionally ring-theory-ish with the AOTC ESB connections.
Going numerically, as far as planets the movies seem to diverge after 2 and 5, ROTS featuring an array of locations where ROTJ is mostly on Tattooine and Endor. Maybe there is something I'm not seeing though :)

In following our main heroes' journey in ROTS, we basically go from Coruscant to Utapau to Mustafar. Yoda leaving for Kashyyyk serves a storytelling purpose, of course, but he's more of a side character.
What happens after the Separatist slaughter on Mustafar more or less belongs to both trilogies, as it depicts the transition from one generation to the next.

    Interesting, that makes sense.
I have more to post on this tomorrow, but I did notice we have kind of an inversion with the fire-choked molten world where everything implodes for the heroes, then years later the oxygen-giving forest environment kind of nurtures things into a return for Anakin's soul and his bond to Luke and Obi-Wan.

And Pollis Massa, Alderaan, and Tattooine are - hideouts for / birthing places of - the next generation.

Vader's shuttle arrives from Star Destroyer, supported by two fighters
    [IMG]

    Coruscant - Invisible Hand
    [IMG]
    Endor - Deathstar II
    [IMG]

Anakin arrives fighting through resistance, but is expected by Palpatine.
Vader arrives unexpected but meets no resistance.

AOTC - Anakin returning to home-planet of Tattooine for visit, before failing to successfully save Shmi's life
    [IMG]
ROTJ - Luke Leaving old home of Tattooine, after returning for visit to succesfully save Han's life

Anakin misses report because of counsel with Yoda
    [IMG]
    Utapau holo
    [IMG]
Endor holo. Luke misses this because of counsel with Yoda
    [IMG]

Noticed something cool about Utapau. Both General Grievous's and Obi-Wan's arrivals there are practically identical, and Obi-Wan even leaves in Grievous's fighter after Order 66. Perhaps an allusion to "heroes on both sides" and a hint that the Jedi become outlaws.[IMG]

Further on the previous post regarding Mustafar and Endor as contrasting...

C-3P0 (on Endor) - "And you said it was pretty here!"

And just to sign off the thread, the settings that transition one trilogy to the next.

The ending transition of ROTS is basically ANH backwards:

    ROTS: Naboo-Death Star-Alderaan-Tatooine.
    ANH: Tatooine-Alderaan-Death Star-Yavin IV.

Yavin IV and Naboo are both green and full of life, so I take them as mirroring locations in this context. You could also say that Yavin IV stands in for Naboo by necessity, as Naboo would be a most unsafe place for the Rebels to hide in.

Polis Massa I guess would be a sneek peek at the Hoth asteroid field.

if you think about the first two trilogies, ep 3 having many planets is the mirror opposite of the very few we see in ep 4. ep 3 also has many planets just in the ending sequence whereas ep 4 has only 1 in it's beginning.

Any thoughts on how the Order 66 sequence and the Outer-rim sieges factor into this?

I love that the saga starts and ends green (1 and 6) with a lot of blue and red in the centre.

It kinda is, since we should be calling it ring fact.
