ST Planets/Worlds Of The ST Discussion Thread

hear hear! It couldn't be expensive to film there either. But it's really the locations cause they are not tourist cliché like some well known place and it would look spectacularly alien on the big screen. I mean, look at this (I want to go back!):

 

Why bother when they did 'that look' so much better in Rogue One?

 

i'd like to see mustafar back in some fashion seeing as ben is obsessed about being vader. i also want rakata prime and vector prime

 

CrazyOldJedi It appears I totally forgot what Rogue One looked like and it certainly didn't remind me of what I've seen on my trip. So no.

 

I wouldn't be shocked if vaders castle on mustafar appears in either 8 or 9

They have already said that his castle may make an appearance in another movie

 

yea i heard. i hope it wil be in the episodic films since it would grow kylo as a charachter and snoke wanting to complete his training. maybe snoke takes ben there to learn the both the death and birth of vader. could be symbolic for him to go from ben to kylo fully

 

It definitely seems like Rian is going for slightly more inspired locations. Ahch-to looks amazing and Crait should be really cool. Dubrovnik is going to be great as well. I hope we get to see some unique places in IX too.

 

i would also like to see mandalore , moriband , mon calimari

 

One of my favorite Star Wars planets is Coruscant and I'm hoping that Dubai-like city-planet makes a return appearance on the big screen... Who knows, maybe Snoke's currently unknown location is over there (in one of the spanking mega-tall towers or even in the ruined Jedi Temple)?

for snoke i can see disney use china's great wall or even tibet as his home world or some form of ancient city of his home world.

 

Snoke is apparently living on a mega star destroyer that's like a flying city.

There's nothing more that I want to see but Unknown Regions (from where Snoke may be based on Aftermath's on-committal winks and nudged) and them being like something out of a nightmare, that we've never seen before.

 

It could be kind of cool if Snoke hasn't stepped onto a planetary surface in ages, and to have some of his vulnerabilities be linked to this. Something like an astronaut who loses bone mass and suffers other physiological deficits as a result of prolonged space flight. Maybe he has such a large and opulent ship because he's confined to it. Maybe it's his 'home world'. Snoke, marooned in space!

Actually, Jedha City was modeled on Masada, and looks a whole lot like it.

Gigoran Monk Now that you mentioned it, the shape of the city from areal shots does look like it. It's close ups that are more of a typical Middle Eastern souk, Whills Temple aside (likely based on Petra).

a buddy of mine and his wife just left italy today. they visited pompeii i hear its surreal

 

It must be plus April is outside of the season so they likely weren't bumping into tourists and had much better view and feel of the place. Would love to go there.

 

yea a mutual friend of ours has a dad who works for the airline so they ride by stand by and just pay the tax on tickets. so like if he and i were to go out west it be like 50 bucks instead of say 300 or 500

they went like a two or three days before easter. they got a lot of stuff in like rome italy london and paris

Speaking of, another place with lots of terrific locations, judging by images, haven't been there myself.
