I think LucasArts should simply take a look at The Two Towers on PS2 to see how it should be done.

Make it a bit bigger (so that you don't spend £45 on Friday and finish the game on the Sunday :(), swap the swords for lightsabers, and include the ability to deflect arrows (which would be blasters, obviously) back at the people shooting and you'd basically have... well, a version of Jedi Power Battles that wouldn't suck!

what about a Dynasty Warriors type Star Wars game?

it could be set during the Clone Wars,
like DW is set during the 3 Kingdoms era of China.
and have the same game play as DW.

could be good, if KOEI does it.

I prefer we wait till when lightsabers are invented...

It's an impossibilty. You cannot stop light, and there's no way light can melt metal and cut people in half, nor have the physical characteristics that allow two sabers to clash and hold like an arm wrestle.

    :(

And the world was flat, and the earth was the center of the universe.

Actually I saw on Discovery Channel one time a show about lasers and the like. This one guy was talking about how it would be possible to make a light-saber with a laser or something. Can't remember the name of the show though.

Actually, I've seen a saver simulator at an amusement park. Helmet and all.

I never tried it, though, so I don't know how good it is.

I would love a Saber fighting game. Ie would be cool if you had the option to go through in 1-1 or 1-2 or 1-3. THat would be cool.
I think LucasARts should make an Infinities fighting game so you can have Young Obi V Old BEn, Ani V Vader etc.

Well, I think somebody else pointed this out, but that's technically untrue. :) Light has already been brought to a screeching halt, by scientists at Stanford I believe. The article was actually on TF.N awhile back, I think, like probably over a year ago.

Now if they could just make it handheld...

I actually made a whole series of posts in a thread about another SW fighting game about something similar to what you're describing. These posts included Force powers, character lists, dueling styles, blocking maneuvers, control schemes, graphical engines, extras, modes, everything.

God, we need to resurrect that.

Can you give a link to this game? Sounds interesting.

I just got Jedi Outcast on Gamecube, and my initial reaction isn't terribly favourable... Haven't really given it a proper try though yet, but I think Jedi Power Battles is still the best saber fighting game I've seen, which really isn't saying much...

So... what is the lightsaber fighting like in Jedi Academy and KOTOR?

I've never played Power Battles or KOTOR but I think Jedi Academy is excellent.

The double-bladed sabre is particularly good. You can finally live out your fanboy fantasies of being Darth Maul without turning into the Star Wars Kid. :p

I've always perferred dual sabres over the staff.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned Obi-Wan on the Xbox. It's not great, but it's decent. The lightsaber combat in that is actually pretty cool, and it does use the system described in the very first post here, where one stick controls movement and the other controls the saber. There is even a two-player mode where you duel other Jedi. Personally, I quite enjoyed it.

Oh, and I'm with LordSilvertouch, dual sabers are better than the staff. You have more freedom that way. That's my opinion, though, so I won't say anyone else has to think that way. ;)
