Wash, DC Please read.

Ok, I wasn't online as much as I intended to be last night, so I couldn't elaborate on what's been going on. Since the title changes still aren't official, I'm really not going to go into that side of things at this time.

Suffice to say that Tim is no longer our CR. He was not forced out of the position or asked to leave; he left of his own free will. He asked me to tell of his resignation at the meeting on Sunday and to ask everyone not to PM him asking why. He has his reasons. I'm not at liberty to discuss said reasons, but they do involve the "D" word (drama) and some nasty rumors going around. Please make no assumptions regarding what happened 'behind the scenes'. I'd rather that people not press to find out the details of what happened; I don't want more people getting sucked into the "D" word (it's like a nasty virus). I want everyone here to know that I really want this whole thing to be over so we can just move on and be a regular FF. My first concern is the group itself and I feel that we can survive this.

I realize the change in CR (which is currently myself, official or not I'm still in charge at the moment since I held the "Vice" title under Tim) is a shock to some people and if anyone has a problem with it, please PM me; I would be happy to discuss your concerns.

Well Ken, I know he does still at least come to the tfn... as one can tell by his last login date. Maybe he will see this and contact you. Or you could try the PM... I think his main thing about no one PMing him was that he didn't want a bunch of people asking him what happened. I'm sure he would have no problem with your request.

 

I am with you and feel that all handled the announcement and elections in a kind and adult manner. I am very glad to be a member of the GS.

D.C. is a cool place. I visited (from Portland, OR) back a few years ago in the 2nd week of the Smithsonian Star Wars exhibit, which was totally cool. You guys were lucky you didn't have to go anywhere 'cept take a car to see it, grr, I'm jealous.

I bet you'll be lucky yet again because my instincts tell me Celebration III will be on the East Coast somewhere, and I will go, but you guys won't need to travel as far. It seems to be moving East! From L.A. in 1987 (not a "Celebration," but the first official event celebrating 10 years), then Denver in '99, then Indianapolis in '02 (that was great fun, we got such pretty weather and I actually liked that city), and who knows what next in '05. I can't wait though whatever the case.

 

Dare we dream that DC's squeaky new convention center will be used? No, it's too good a thing to hope for....
