Just image if we did become part of USA.

NZ would be the state to take "Delaware's" place (spelling?) Delaware(SP?) sucks.

NZ would become like Auckland is to the rest of NZ - no one likes it - but they are stuck with it.

I have no desire to be anything other than a Kiwi. We did have this discussion though and at the time it seemed good in theory (I think it was the Wendy's and Taco Bell that did it for me.)

ok, seeing as this thread has the word "discussion" in the title, I'm thinking it can be a good place for general NZ discussions.

What are poeples thoughts on having Police recruited at the age of 17?

At the moment it's 19 - but they are thinking of gathering 17 year olds and traiing them so they will be ready on their 19th B/Day.

Personally, I think it's way to young - most 19year olds will just be thinking - "cool, i get to speed and i cant get done for it!" Most 19 year olds havnt had enough life experiences to be cops.

(17 - that's younger than me - scary)

 

Minimal mayo at BK? Every time I get a flamed grilled chicken burger they put so much mustard sauce it's not pretty. But mayo...not sure about that. Ice cream is still good.

Recruiting 17 y.o. kids for police training is just WRONG!

 

Hey. I'm an American and I just saw your stuff. Pretty cool. I admire your patriotism, especially that no one had to blow up a world trade center for you to love your country. I know someone who lives there and he's exactly the same way, and I admire that. Howevere, I do have to say, in our defense, that we were founded on better principles than we live by. If the orgional Americans could see us I don't think they'd be happy. But we try. At least some of us. Not all people are ignorant about the world, just most who don't want to believe there's a world out there. I'm a teenager and I know a lot more about the world then most adults. Anyway, I just wanted to give you Kiwis my American point of view. I'll shut up now.

recruiting police officers at 17 is definitely a bad Idea I don't think many people at that age have the life skills necessary to take on a job like that

 

heard something recently on talkback about Police Cadets ...imagine being pulled over by a 19-20yr old copper..I can just imagine
the ego's on some of them.

OK, what's your stance on 16 year olds being able to get their firearms licence and then being able to go out and purchace firearms and ammmo.

Personally, even though I got mine ASAP after turning 16 I think it's rediculous! People even my age now (18/19) are too immature toi handle a firearm safely (some people). And another thing - the test should be made a hell of a lot harder - I got 100% but the questions were just stupid. It should be "uped" to 19/20 I think.
