Poll Feature

Hi all, sorry for the newbie question:

Is the poll feature ever active in this forum? Why is it inactive? How do we get it going again?

It's turned on every so often. Mostly, it's left off.

 

Typically in the past when it is first active it is fine, but then after so many days you'd have to go back at least five pages to find a post that was not a poll. One of our admins brought up an excellent point that the reason for the polls should have been to start a discussion. But more often than not it ended up too few people actually discussing the poll and more folks voting in the polls.

 

Are they brought back from time to time?

 

From time to time, yes and that only lasts a few days and then they are turned off again after they are abused. If they were handled properly, then they'd most likely be on all the time.

Definatly. It'd be awesome if they were up for more than a week at a time. Though the odds of that happening are low or possibly high if Raven wants to spite me.

 

Who are the type of people that abuse the option, or does everyone go overboard when they are reintroduced?

 

We should have a poll day like the AOTC board. Let everyone make polls for one day only.

 

Pardon me, but there were some really stupid polls, asking all sorts of silly stuff and opinions, earlier in the year, before they were cancelled. Literature does have a certain, mmmm, quality over other forums, and maturity. There were other specific forums they needed to be in.
