Whoa, things are more serious than I thought.
Teh drama runs high.
I suggest we move all Games polls to the Senate Floor, and have the index here.
There has been a lot of discussion about whether having polls in this forum is actually detrimential to good discussion.
See [link=http://boards.theforce.net/message.asp?topic=6332387&replies=51]this thread in Comms[/link];
If they were turned off in this forum, I could post polls people want in the [link=http://boards.theforce.net/board.asp?brd=10264]"Census" forum[/link] (note: Only moderators can post polls in that forum, but I would do so on request).
An Poll index thread would be posted in Games, so all those interested would know what the latest games-related polls are in Census.
Also note for VERY SPECIAL occasions, Polls could be turned back on in this "Games" forum, the poll set up, and polls turned off again.
What would warrant a very special poll? Whether or not to finally permaban me?
Perhaps we could go for a trial period of no polls and see what happens, whether we feel comfortable, THEN make a decision.
Meh. I say give jp managaer status so he can disable polls, then enable them to make his own.
Since that probably won't happen, I'll pass on this one. I don't like either option too much.
JP, can I use my army of socks to abuse this poll, so I can have things my way?
Polls should be allowed, it's a excellent way to see what people opinions are on things.
Hardly. Polls discourage actual discussion, people just click a button and assume that their contribution is worth a damn. You don't get an opinion, you get an idea of what some people agree on. Unless you could force EVERYONE to vote, the results aren't even accurate.
Real men start good threads.
Real losers start redundant threads.
Bib starts funny threads.
I start useless threads in protest of redundant threads.
No-one else is important.
And it's an excellent way of annoying all the regulars.
Doesn't bother me either way.
ahh screw it. i voted to keep it the way it is, but i dont really care now after reading this.
I think we'll find many different types of threads on the board.
1. Newbie Threads
-Of Poor Quality.
-Not without spelling or Gramatical Errors.
-Trying to prove a point that's already been proven.
-Not always Spoiler Proof.
-Copy an existing thread. Grrr.
-End up redundant.
-Always directed away from and destroyed by friendly local Mod.
-Polls don't work in the Games Forum.
-A True user should'nt have to use them.
-Always end up being the first to be locked.
-Hopefully will never be antipruned.
3. Experienced Gamer Threads
-Clear and Concise.
-Good Spelling and Grammar. Does'nt need to bring a point across using CAPITAL LETTERS.
-Will be anti-pruned after time.
-Are good for a LOL
-Are always destroyed by local nutcase.
-Always end up being edited.
"Are always destroyed by local nutcase."
No, thats the redundant threads.
I specialise in demolition of 1 & 2.
In special cases, It's me who demolishes 3, by asking 'the wrong questions'.
We have a new troll king around here now. If you can't guess who I'm victimising lately, investigate my past couple of bannings.
Err... I reckon it's the one who you were talkin' to me about the other day.
Not mentioning names.
No. I would never mention that disrespected fellow's name. That would be immoral.
I'm torn between the issue. I think on the one hand it's a good idea to make room for more threads. Yet on the other if I had an idea for a poll I'd have to ok it through JP or another mod which would be a hassle and not worth the effort, plus I never visit the Cenus fourm.
put them in Census... put all the polls in census!
Disable all polls in all the forums except the Census forums.
