POO_DOO on the OPPM........second wave inbound!

DANG IT!!!! To the Dark Side with the OPPM.....fire up the X-Wing, R6...we're goin' in to wail on FRANCE again!!!!!!



*Bleep, BLOOP, whistle!*

 

The tarmac was eerily quiet, but I reckon that was to be expected, since it hadn't even been a day since the last strike.

 

The only line-personnel on duty was the guard-droid, and R6 had already handled that little detail.....he told me something about giving him some "extra" maintenance........who said astro-droids were single-minded?!

 

As I lifted off, R6 relayed that the tower was, well....ticked. "Yea, they can take their piece of what's left of my butt when I come back....if I come back!"

 

I vectored my ship, plugged in the now familiar coordinates, and lit 'em up.

 

I had taken the opportunity while on-deck to do a quick refit of the X by stocking a few more torps at the expense of losing some range......oh, well, "Nuthin' like a little challenge!"

 

As I neared the sub-light drop-in point, I told R6 to get a grip since we might have company when we get there.

 

"Aw, by the Force.....I hate it when I'm right!"

We dropped into sub-light in the middle of an assault fleet.

 

Nearly jerking the stick out by it's roots, I slammed the X-Wing around each of the enemy ships, firing torps in a purely reactionary method.

 

I must've taken them completely by suprise because one of my torps ignited a nearby Corvette with ease.

 

I heeled over hard to engage a fast-attack ship, and let loose a torp on her.

 

*WHOOOMMM!!!*

"GEEZ! Must've been somthing good in that one!" The ship erupted so hard, that my deflectors nearly buckled, and my X-Wing was catapulted violently.

 

"An assault fleet at solstice runnin' without shields up?!" What were they thinkin'?!

 

Of course, I knew the "Bantha-shoot" would be over soon enough, so I concentrated on the nearest combat vessel, another Corvette that was coming about with turbo-lasers alit!

 

I called out to R6 about the time on deck to try and figure out just how long it would take them to power up their shields.......he bleeped.....4, 3, 2........

 

"POO-DOO!!!!" I cut loose both torp tubes together, and the ship heaved with their release. I swung around as hard as I dared, and dove for cover behind a freighter.

 

"I was called on my comlink while taking a nap. Of course they'd do that, they always choose the most inconvienent time to call."

 

Apparently, both torps found their marks, as a shock-wave engulfed the freighter I was hiding behind......it careened at me at a most odd yaw-angle!

 

"We've got some crazy nutter that just took off. Looks like he managed to land himself in the middle of some kind of assult. He may need some back up there."

 

I headed away from the onrushing & tumbling freighter, now a blistered hulk, but it just kept coming!

 

*I sighed* "That's probably Kit, the old warhorse doesn't know when to quit. I'll be there soon. He sure knows when to pick a fight."

 

"Something on the comm?!" "GEEZ!!! Not now, R6!!!!" I veered down to avoid being slammed by the enemy carcass, but was recieved into the onslaught of the 'Vette's shock-wave!

 

The X-Wing went over on her nose, and for a moment, I thought all was lost.

 

Give 'em hell, Grey Jedi!

 

I must've blacked out for a time, because when I came to, R6 was hysterically going on about my taking the ship off auto before it was too late!
