POO_DOO on the OPPM........second wave inbound!

I didn't have time to observe, but I knew JGoC could hold her own....I held fast on another Tie, and let loose a volley with my cannons.

 

I pulled up just in time.

"Thanks! I better pay more attention and do less talking."

 

Yea, sorry about the wasp-nest here.......but yu always liked a fight, eh? !

 

I wheeled the X around to cover JGoC, hoping to get a quick lead on the incoming 'Vette.

 

The Corvette was not amused, and opened up with all batteries!

 

"I'll take the portside, yu take starboard."

 

As I bent the ship to port, JGoC disappeared around the other flank, and I thrust-vectored the X to cut two more torps loose.

 

We must've double-punched the Corvette pretty hard, because her bulkheads buckled amidships, and gas started pouring out of her.

 

THERE SHALL BE NO POO DOOING ON THE OPPM!!!!!!

 

"What the heck was that?" I acknowledged inwardly......and swung around for another pass at the crippled 'Vette.

 

Just as I rounded the stern of the Corvette, it started coming apart.....I vacated the premisii post-haste!

 

In the melee,I'd lost track of JGoC, but I knew she'd be still givin' 'em a fistful, so I concentrated on the next batch of incoming blips.

 

A squadron of Tie-bombers were approaching, but without fighter escort....."What the......" I pulled down on them, and held the trigger on my cannons until I thought my finger would break!

 

Lacking the speed and dexterity of the Interceptors, nearly half of their numbers were lost to my first salvo, but the others made for the safety, to my horror, of an incoming Star Destroyer!!!!!

 

"Uh....JGoC.....if yur out there, you better make for home.....these jokers have just dealt us a really bad hand!"

 

Only six torps left, and I hadn't even gotten past this furball to the target.........to run, or to fight it out......with an SS........GEEZ!

 

It was well known that I was a glutton for punishment, and not too bright either, but I wasn't completely outta my head yet......I broke off from the approaching SS, and made for the target at best speed with several Interceptors in pursuit.

 

"If I don't shake these buggers, I'll never see the target." I considered shutting down the guns, and jamming the throttles, but I knew that wouldn't cut it.

 

I decided instead to launch the last of my torps, but on minimum power, to let them drift aft just outside the tubes, with delays on board.......

 

I had R6 make the necessary adjustments, and I let them loose in series........"I just hope they don't react fast enough to avoid them."

 

As the Force would have it, they flew right into the drifting torps, and never had a chance.

 

As I was congradding myself on a nifty move, R6 reported that we had a problem......a big problem!

 

Coming up from the target were several wings of enemy craft, with a Super Star Destroyer on their heels....."Man, talk about yur dogs of war."

 

"Well, this mission is a bust!" I surged the engines into 'military' power, set coordinates for home, and told R6 to punch it.

 

The voice of an unknown soldier I'd reviewed in the archives sounded in my head......"Better to retreat and live to fight another day." Not my way usually, but hard to ignore this time. I looked back, threw the target a wicked smile and a wink, and said quietly "Don't get too comfy, ya'll!"
