Imagine the pain that poor guy must have been going through..... ....when Padme was telling him they could never have a romantic relationship while dressed in a tight, black leather corset and long gloves. Talk about torture....
The design of the dress was probably meant to be a foreshadowing of her being choked by her own husband a couple of years later.
That's how I interpreted that, as well. Also notice the line of dialogue, "The thought of not being with you—I can't breathe," which I thought was clever.
I honestly don't think Lucas thought that far ahead not to the extent that he knew Anakin would forcer choke her (given by the evidence in the making of Revenge Of The Sith, everything was subject to change) I thought Dooku's words of "I am a man of my word" was more telling than a piece of cloth wrapped around Padme's neck..obviously Lucas didn't continue with the charasmatic character of Dooku, and instead turned him into a pathetic pawn sad really.
Well it's true that some of the stuff (like the character of Dooku) was invented before AOTC rather than TPM and a lot of things change in production/post production (it was also true of ANH). But I think that Anakin and Padme's relationship is something he really thought about. Consider this, Anakin says outright "I'd rather dream of Padme". How does that turn out in ROTS?
People actually assume George Lucas is dumber than the audience. This explains a lot. -------- don't understand the significance of this post..
You mean the choker? Cause that is what it's called. As for Lucas designing the dress being creepy..it's about infinity less creepy than Natalie's cut scenes in Leon. And since this is a family friendly forum, that's all I'm going to say about that movie.
I think it's safe to assume..it wasn't until Lucas says "i've always planned Padme to die by Anakin's hand" this could go on forever so I'll just say I disagree
