POP-UP ADS!!!

I know this isn't the only thread on the subject, but I'm starting a new one anyway.

The issue of intermittent pop-up ads has been virtually ignored in the past, perhaps due to lack of evidence. Well here is the best evidence I could get.

This ad...

...and it doesn't seem to be showing any signs of going away. I've seen the same banner and the same pop-up window for the past 5 or 7 pages I've viewed on the JC.


So who wants to take a crack at addressing the issue this time?

Fortunately, I've never gotten that ad. Or any other pop ups. Do you get them often?

 

I have never gotten one until today.

My thread got closed in the YJCC for this one, BYOB, so I've gotten it too.

 

I got one. I tried to ban it. It didn't work. I settled for closing the window and banning a troll in Classic Trilogy.

in the past it was written off to other programs, but this one comes from a snowball site, so it HAS to be from these boards.

Never had to worry about the popups... yet.

But I clicked the survey ad banner. A chance at a hundred bucks is pretty cool, especially for a broke college student like me.

Tonight is the first time since December 24, 1998 that I have EVER gotten a pop-up. I'm annoyed to say the least. I've gotten the same as was shown in the first post of this thread.

 

I just got the pop-up again and I have an ad blocker!

 

I know this isn't a solution so much as a work-around, but I'm using Mozilla 1.1 and the unrequested pop-up blocker built-in to it works perfectly. I'm getting that banner repeatedly, but not getting any pop-up.

Mozilla is a great browser, too. It's now my default browser, over IE 6.

 

I haven't gotten this so-called pop-up. Clearly, the best members are exempt from seeing this filth.

 

I got this pop-up a few minutes ago. But I asked it nicely to leave me alone, and I haven't heard from it since.
