POP-UP ADS!!!

Does anyone know what's going on?

 

If anyone has Earthlink as your ISP, download the Earthlink Pop Up blocker. Works great and I don't get the pop up at all.

 

Obviously part of that ad includes a pop-up. None of the board staff can do anything about it, but I've sent an e-mail off to Josh with all the details, and hopefully he'll be able to get it fixed soon. Otherwise, just try and bare with us.

I got that about five times today. First time I ever got pop-ups at the JC.

I just got another one of those messages. I'm going to check in each time and see if there's some sort of time interval between them that's predictable.

 

I agree with gcc. Download Mozilla. The built in pop-up stopper is great! I haven't had a pop-up since I installed it a few weeks ago. I even set it up to block images from the ad host, so I don't even see banner ads here anymore. I must admit, it's a lot nicer. I had to use someone else's computer that was still running IE, without a pop-up killer, and I had forgotten how much the Internet replies on pop-up ads.

I love earthlink's pop-up blocker. You get a fist icon and a nice boing sound anytime a pop-up tries to....uh...pop-up.

But I'm at work now, so I had to see the awful ad 2x now.

 

I got it once, then it went away, but it might come back.

Could be spy ware on your computer. I use ad-aware and I stopped getting those pop-ups. it scans your computer for any spy ware that may be lurking on it.

This is definitely the JC, not spyware. This is the first time I've seen pop-ups here.

I'm so unpopular even the advertisers don't like me.

 

I'm getting it everytime I refresh. Another problem I'm having is that the banner ad is enjoying replacing the foreground banner image on every board, even those with custom banners on different hosts about one in every 5 loads.

And since 1 in 100 wins, who'll be the first JCer to win?

ok, I just got home, and the dang ad got past my pop-up blocker. Now I'm mad.

 

Now I actually want to see one and I can't. Just really want to see one for no apparent reason, and they disappear!
