POP-UP ADS!!!

I got a pop-up last night, and that was all I got, hopefully it will be the last.

EDIT: I just got a pop-up.

it's bad enough when I log on and get all the AIM, ICQ, yahoo popups. then the others just slow down the logging on process. I used the linky above to update my ad-ware, and a few more unwanted popups have disappeared. yayyyyyyyyy.

I can now say that I have received it twice.

I thought I would never get a pop up here...oh well

I blamed my p2p spyware initially, but now I'm on a clean system.

I've used cookie cleaners, ad-ware, and deleted all the crappy programs that normally have piggy-backs, but I still have this phantom sound file that gives me gun shots, barking dogs, ta-daa, twinkly-crinkly sounds, that I can't get rid of, and don't know what it is.

I've noticed that as well. They must contain a setTimeout command that closes the window after a certain number of milliseconds.

That's an improvement, but I think it just goes to show that few people want them around all the same.

Is there any way we can specifically request not to get any of these?

I don't think that we get to screen them before hand, but we can ask for certain ads to be removed, and that is what is happening. The staff know of the problem, and are working to get it fixed, although, as Carter said earlier, we have to wait for those at the other end to reply and do something.

I know they're annoying, and I'm sick of them myself, but we can't do anything more.

I have McAfee spamkiller and firewall, and it's helping keep the volume down.

I have firewall also, but I still get pop ups. *pokes her firewall* I don't think firewalls reduce it.

Firewalls stop pop ups? Coulda fooled me...

I freaked out when I got the first one the other night. I've gotten three since then. Just wait, after I post this I'll get another. *sigh*

RangerPrincess, what degree of security do you have your firewall set at? right click your firewall icon on the bottom of your screen. click firewall. there should be a thingy on security level. and set your level to high.

Well, you could use one browser, such as that MSN one (ugh) for the JC and disable Javascript on it and then use the other for your other web stuff. What I did...
