Pop-ups ....

Anyone else getting pop-up ads?

trust me, it ain't spyware. I'm on the comp at work - only a few sites I'm allowed to go to.

 

I got one yesterday, that I'm almost positive came from here.

 

There's only one banner that I know of that gives pop-ups and that's the bluish survey banner.

 

I got one about 3 weeks ago..

I think so. I got them when I opened that exact same thread you were talking about. I also get "quit smoking" pop-ups when I open up threads about quitting smoking.

I'm not sure if its an IGN thing or a PC thing.

 

Actually, I love those "spycam 2!" ads. They always show show shots of the camera patrolling a house, and then a picture of some chick shows up. I guess that means it's the playboy mansion or something, I'm not sure. There sure aren't any chicks running around my house.


But anyways, I get tons of pop-ups and other junk. Just learn to push the big X on the top righthand side of the window. and after you do that, don't call up Dell screaming because you clicked the X and the window dissapeared.

Actually I think it's showing how you can put a camera in your house to see what's going on. There are females that live outside of the Playboy mansion, you know.

If you want to eliminate popups, I suggest you take a look at the Open Source browser Mozilla. It has the ability to block unrequested new windows in Javascript and eliminates popups.

I've been using it for a year and haven't seen any popups at all in that time under Mozilla (at work using IE6.0 is a different story...).

No, they just figure that if you post here, you need acne relief.

I've never gotten a pop-up on the JC. How odd. *shrug* The internet is strange.

 

Well, I can't say that I have gotten one here. Maybe its just my luck or computer, or wrong timing ? Probably not

 

I haven't experienced any pop-up problems lately... But if you download the google toolbar there is a feature in the toolbar that lets you block pop-ups.

Its your browser, when you start getting popups in popup free sites it nearly always is.

 

Um, where Jedi_Johnson? I have the google toolbar and don't see any pop-up buttons.

 

Go to toolbar options, and enable the experimental features. Then enable pop-up blocking. Hope that helps.

I've gotten 2 popups today about a Jewish dating service.

1. I'm not Jewish.
2. It was in a thread about the Confederate flag.

How did it get Jews from THAT?
