Have people seen these? They look neat.

A few days ago I got one as change at a Tim's drive through.

Yesterday I asked for 4 of them instead of a loonie as change.

Today I asked again and was told that they were running low and were allowed to give out only one per customer.

I can see a lot of people saving these.

I've seen one. First quarter ever printed with a colour in the world. Another first for Canada.

It's funny though how they're being distributed through Tim's, and not the banks like other coins.

It is funny that they're through Tim's. Most new coins, such as the 50 cent ones, are through Laura Secord. Too bad i don't like chocolate and can't eat icecream.

Someone at work got one at Tim Hortons and was showing it around...the poppy is PAINTED on! It's going to wear off in a week!

I thought it was an enamel or something.

Still want one, but I don't go into Tim Hortons if i can avoid it and I can't eat ice cream, so I guess Ill just have to get one in circulation somehow.

I was given a few (yes at a Tim's drivethru) a few weeks ago, I held my change in my hand as I drove back to work and when I moved the change to my other hand I saw the poppy and at first freaked thinking I was given some token, not change.

yeah, the poppy wears off pretty easily.

I have one but i didn't get it from Tim's. I never go there. Not sure where I picked it up, then.
I thought someone just took a red pen, and filled it in.

well, if you're like me and collect coins, it'll be a trick to get one with the paint still good.

I wonder if they work in vending machines...

You can buy rolls of them in special packages from the mint website, the Royal Bank, or Canada Post where almost all new coins can be ordered.
There is also a poppy silver dollar that isn't painted.
The mint website also has pics of other coloured coins, leaves, a maple leaf, the Northern Lights, Santa Clausand others.

    www.mint.ca for pictures.

I tried to go through the mint and when I tried to order a roll the web site said out of stock. You can get them on ebay if you want to pay the price.

Mint price = $14CDN (if they were available)

    Ebay approx $25US
