Some of the 'elders' of this club may remember the Billy Jack movies from early 1970s. Most of the younger fans likely have never had an opportunity to watch a Billy Jack movie. That is unfortunate. Why? Well the Billy Jack films have a strong undercurrent of Eastern philosophy in them - so too does SW. For example in the third Billy Jack movie titled The Trial Of Billy Jack our hero embraces his Native American roots and trains with a spirit guide. The conversations and images during this sequence are startling in their likeness to Obi-Wan/Yoda's training of Luke in Episode's 4,5, and 6. Billy Jack faces his 'trials' (in name and by various meanings). Not unlike what the Jedi and Sith must do to prove themselves. Of course that is only one small parallel. There are others. I urge cinematic fans that like to study the inner meanings of filmed philosophy to find the Billy Jack movies and look for how SW might be under the Billy Jack influence. We know George Lucas was a student of Jospeh Campbell and Carl Jung's work. I strongly think Billy Jack's creator - Tom Mcloughlin (sic)- was a Joseph Campbell and Carl Jung student as well. Watch the Billy Jack films and see how many ideas and images later find their way into that galaxy far, far away...
