What are your thoughts and views on pornography?

I think it rapes the mind.

Give me just one way in which pornography infringes on another person's rights. There are far worse evils in the world - and violent movies should get far higher ratings than pornographic ones, even though the opposite is usually the case.

I never said it should be illegal or anything. I'm all for free speech.

I have no desire to have anything to do with it myself, but I support the right of others to watch it if they want to. It shouldn't be punished with criminal proceedings or ostracisation.

(This is adult porn btw. A certain other type is an entirely different matter, and should definitely be illegal.)

    Porn is like anything else...

enjoy it if you want...do so in moderation...don't expose yourself to anything weird that might warp you into Hannibal Lecter...

    Just use control...

    Something to ponder:

there are three porn shops for every one McDonald's in the United States alone.

Where I live...Montgomery, AL...it is hard to find a playboy even. That is why Al Gore invented the internet...to bring porn to the South.

Seriously though, eventhough we don't have porn shops here (we do have a topless bar) sex crimes are still pretty bad. I think people are going to do what they want regardless of outside influence.

    Lecter was right...

"We covet the things that we see"

Maybe we should tone down porn. And as for all that stuff pervs call porn (children, animals, etc) those things should be delt with, because those are very un-natural things that can cause people to do wiered stuff. Stuff that most people son't allow into their mind. Everybody is born with a conscience...some people let theirs die.

    EDITed some curses out.

As Jenna Jameson, a prominent porn star, has said:
"Everybody thinks of porn as, 'It's really bad, and these girls are on drugs, and they're having to suck [penis] to even get in these movies in the first place,'" Jenna said. "I'm breaking that stereotype. I always like to say, 'Hey, man, this is healthy, and I'm happy, and I run my own show, and nobody tells me what to do.' I'm not saying every girl has the same opportunities, but I'm trying to change things."

In fact, Jenna is a big enough star that she can name her movies and her costars, she receives royalties (a previously unheard-of privilege in the contract world of adult films) and she has launched Club Jenna, her own production company. She's even thinking about starting a talent agency to help prevent aspiring porn actresses from being mistreated, she told us.

    ...

"I'm not really sure," Jenna said. "Now I'm producing my own movies, but it's hard to walk away when you're on top." Indeed. Porn starlets typically make no more than $1,200 per sex scene (with men; lesbian action maxes out at $800 a pop), and often burn out after pushing through a few hundred films in a couple of years. In contrast, Jenna just completed a DVD for which she got $60,000 for one-and-a-half days of work -- "and it was only girl-girl!"

    ...

"So where do you draw the line between what you consider healthy porn and things you find objectionable?" Christina asked.

"When a guy's grabbing a girl by the hair and she's like, 'Yeah, [bang] me,' I think that's hot," Jenna said. "But I've been seeing these videos where these girls, they have this look on their face, and you can tell that they're not enjoying what's happening to them. That's when I say, 'Enough.' When I'm shooting my movies and the girl looks like she's out of it, we're done. I'm sure there are guys out there who are like, 'Oh, yeah, she deserves it,' but that is not the market I'm trying to hit -- at all."

    1. If you don't like it, don't buy it.

    2. Children cannot give legal and binding consent to anything unless they are legally emancipated minors or work in the recording or film industries as professionals in California or New York.

    3. The rights of children to be free from coercion, duress or threat are already protected in a variety of ways that makes child pornography illegal and prosecutable on so many different legal bases and dimensions that new laws regarding pornography aren't needed... but more investigative resources and swift enforcement of the existing law are needed.

That being said... if porn gets you off, great. If it doesn't, nobody forced you to walk into the back room, or turn on Spice channel. And no one puts a gun to girls' heads and tells them they have no choice but to grow up and be a porn star.

Everyone says she is so beautiful I can't help but look. I don't want to, but I do. Her face is what I first see but it is more of her that keeps me looking. Long after her picture is gone it remains in my mind, tossing it and turning it in my head. Toying with it, fantasizing of her. I am left forever to deal with this mental imprint of her naked body spread before my eyes. I don't even know her and she rules my every thought. Is this really beauty? Daily I need more and more of her and if I can't find her anyone else will do. I am trapped with no way out. I need release but I can't talk to anyone. They will make fun of me and look down on me. Who can I talk to? Is there anyone who will listen without judging me? I can't talk to anyone I just bury this inside and it gets worse every day. I am trapped. I'd give everything to see her again but I'd give even more to get rid of these thoughts. My church will kick me out, my friends will turn on me and my family can never know-I have no one to come to but you. I lay at your feet and your hands on my shoulders soothe my soul and quench this fire inside me. You are my all and I lay this burden at your feet. It is things like these that you died for.

Well, i am sure it shocks no one, but i love pornography. And as far as being three porn shops for every one mcdonalds, Mcdonalds is the unhealthy one which contributes to heart disease and the fact that most of america is overweight. Porn, if it is done by the choice of the model and she/ he is of consenting age is perfectly fine. It doesn't hurt anyone and allows people perfectly healthy ways in which to, er i relieve the sexual tensions in their lives. Couples can also enjoy pronography in which it enhances their sex life.
Pornography is not sinful, or evil. I think people should have th echoice to buy it if they like. I dont have a problem with people who dont like it as long as they are not trying to censor it. Like sex, it is a personal choice that should not be restricted by others.
and as far as rape of the mind, sheesh how cliched can you get.

"...and allows people perfectly healthy ways in which to, er i relieve the sexual tensions in their lives."

Saying that it's a perfectly healthy sexual release is just a way to justify one's own perversion. Pornography causes you to view women as nothing but sexual objects.

Not so. That's like saying that action movies cause us to think of people as nothing but entertainment. In a porn movie, those men and women for the most part are choosing to take part in sexual entertainment for that very purpose. It's not like we're spying on anyone or stripping them of their humanity or anything. They're stripping themselves of clothes and inhibitions for the purpose of providing other people sexual satisfaction. And is it not better to have a private, harmless fetish or perversion than to go out, have sex promiscuously, and possibly come down with some STD or something? And if pornography teaches us that women are nothing more than object, what about those guys who go out and have sex with different partners constantly?

Therefore, porn is essential to the Christian experience?

Those woman that posed for it know that. It's their choise.

Just because I look at pictures of a naked woman doesn't mean I'm going to look at my friend as a sex object.

    Yeesh.

As opposed to the men in porn...who are wonderfully layered, amazingly complex, multi-faceted creatures. Riiiiight. [face_mischief]

YOu really cant say someone views women just as an object b/c he likes to see nakeed pictures of beautiful women. That is one of the most ridiculous things i have ever heard. just b/c you feel ashamed after looking at porn, doesn't mean i should. And as far as fetishes are concerned, (while i dont really understand alot of them, though i do find some very ammusing) as far as they are enjoyed in ones own home, it is none of your business what they do or how they do it. You reallly have no right to call someones fetishes perverted, and think you are better than them. You know you might have the same fetishes, but you are too restricted to do anything about them, which leads to your shame. These people at least know what they like

Actually, yes, I do. I was addicted to pornography for quite some time.

Ha ha, fine. For the ladies:

pornography causes you to view men as nothing but sexual objects.

    Happy? :p

Yes, I've seen pictures of naked men, and now I view my husband as nothing but a sexual object. I've completely forgotten that he's intelligent, funny, charming, and that he loves me. He's good for nothing but sex.

*yells at hubby* Back in the bed, you!

    Ah, equality. ;)

Well, I was being facetious, obviously. I tend not to think that movies "cause" anyone to do anything. And just because some people apparently have problems separating porn from reality doesn't mean that as a whole it's bad for other, normal consenting adults, if that's the way they choose to spend their time. Just my two cents.
