This is looking like it will be a well attended meet, which is great :) Does this one then make us official?

I forget, so please refresh my memory. Why is it that you chose Portsmouth rather than the major railway and road hub of Southampton?

Not quite, we need one more. Apparantly meets don't count after a year has passed.

Because it's a lot easier for most of us to get here than it is to get there, or so it seems. I live here, the ferry comes here, and there's trains to here. I personally suggested portsmouth as I live here and I can't travel.

No, it's mostly that I can't afford to travel anywhere, otherwise I would. I do walk a lot these days but I'm not walking to southampton.

Pity I don't live in Fareham anymore, otherwise I would've come along.

Maybe in that case you should make Portsmouth your official Southern meeting place.

No, you misunderstand. I mean make Portsmouth the official meeting place for the Southern area of FF-South, whilst MK can be the official meeting place for the Northern area of FF-South.

    FF-South Northern: MK

    FF-South Southern: Portsmouth

In future, if we start getting some more people interested from the South West ( ), then maybe we could have the official South Western meeting place in either Exeter, Plymouth or Torquay.

I think it'd be best if we got FFUK-South established first before was start splitting it up.

I'd prefer to call it organising rather than splitting up. FF-South will still exist, only organised into sub-sections.

    LOL [face_laugh]

As a Pompey lad nothing makes me happier than when someone sticks the boot in about Scumhampton!

X-Wing Ace I think you're ideas are good ones in principle. The South covers a huge geographical area and while some of us may have the means and money to travel to meets far away, many people posting here don't. Therefore the idea of having meets in different places around the patch makes sense. I do agree with moosemousse though that we need to be careful that we don't end up fragmenting the board as that would be the worst possible outcome.

If there are enough people in a particular area, whether it be MK, Pompey or the South West to justify having local meets just in those places, that sounds good. However, I think we should still try and have a 'collective' meet from time to time to retain the cohesion on FF-South.

Hi there what time is this meet finishing.
The reason iam asking is because all the
train lines will be closed in Basingstoke
all day on the 9th because of engineering
works and this affects the all of the swt
    area

I don't actually know. AFAIK, an end time hasn't been organised, so either we'll sort something out now or people will leave when they need to.

Sounds fair enough. I guess ppl that have got a long or time consuming journey home won't want to stay too late but lets make the most of the time we have :)

...I have a feeling that I'm currently the only one in the west... but for the next meet you are more than welcome to come to Exeter or Plymouth :p

am so looking forward to the meet! I think I'm the last to arrive and first to leave though, but nevertheless. I'm getting back from France on Friday (phew) and so far nothing has come up preventing me from going [face_dancing]

oh and as far as money and travel are concerned, if you book early it is possible to get train tickets for quite reasonable prices...

I'd quite like to do an exeter meet, I've not been in years and I kinda miss the place. I'd either need crash space or I'd have to leave early.

I've also just remembered, I'm going for curry on the day of the meet, I can't remember what time it is, I'll find out later.

That's a shame. I am sure we'll be doing more meets in 2007 down Pompey way, which hopefully you can make.
