We know that the Resistance allies received their SOS in TLJ but didn't respond and didn't send anybody. I'd love to see them explore that a bit. Perhaps some of those that ignored the Resistance call for help will then decide to help the Resistance in Ep. 9 after being inspired by the story of Luke's standoff with Kylo and perhaps there will be tension within the Resistance between those that survived Crait and the Johnny Come Lately's that ignored the SOS and joined up later.

Or maybe all the people that ignored the SOS will continue to ignore the Resistance and the Resistance will have to go into hiding and will only pick up a small handful of new recruits to help them out. As a result the FO will remain in power by the end of Ep. 9.

    @jedijax

I agree, but that doesn't mean this isn't the story we're being given. They seem more focused on the abstract story of light and dark being brought together than on the literal evil things we've seen Kylo do. And that will result in a bad message being sent.

TLJ already sent this message because Rey was willing to forgive Ben if he just went with her. She already was touching hands and having feelings for a murderer.

So this is a story about forgiveness, which makes it very Christian. But these days most people find this kind of extreme forgiveness unpalatable. But that doesn't mean they're not going there.

I do not really know what to expect from IX aside from Supreme Leader Ren trying to take over the galaxy (and finding that managing an Empire is difficult).

Though I will joke that Episode IX will be titled The Search for the Creator and it will about the Resistance looking for the last, last hope for freedom of the galaxy from the First Order: Deus Ex Machina. They travel into some kind of wormhole and end up in the real world where they meet the creator of the Star Wars universe, George Lucas. They ask Lucas to give them unlimited resources or a way to destroy the First Order in a single blast, but Lucas will be acting Luke Skywalker in TLJ, though with a brighter outlook on life.

    - The film starts with the following crawl:
    - The film opens with Leia's funeral. Poe delivers a rousing and moving speech as Rey, Finn and Rose look on, comforting each other. Rey makes her excuses and leaves to be alone with her grief, uniquely affected by Leia's death due to her connection with the Force. Once alone she hears a man crying and is startled to realise that her bond with Kylo has re-awoken. She is cold with him and asks how he can grieve for his mother after everything he has done to wrong her and dishonour her legacy. Kylo is upset and tells her that he has attempted to be the sort of leader his mother would have wanted him to be - he points out the good things he has done for the galaxy since becoming its ruler, and insists that he had nothing to do with the attack that caused his mother's death (it will later be revealed as a scheme of Hux's intended to stir the conflict). Rey tells him that nothing would have made Leia happier than having her son return and prove that Ben Solo lived, and ends their connection.

    - Kylo and Rey are both struggling in their own ways. Kylo is attempting to be a strong and bold leader but struggles with the weight of his responsibilities and a lack of internal support. Hux actively undermines him at every turn and is growing in confidence. Even Kylo's Knights of Ren are becoming increasingly defiant, and it is implied that they may be conspiring with Hux to overthrow him. Rey has taken on Force-sensitive students who have been attracted to the Resistance cause, but she struggles with what to teach them - what lessons from the books should she carry forward to her new Jedi Order? Which should she discard? She also feels at a remove from the rest of the Resistance, as the leader of a spiritual component that Poe, Finn and Rose - while great friends and strong supporters - can't truly understand.

    - As they struggle, Luke appears to both Kylo and Rey. Kylo is angry and resentful and tries his best not to listen, but Luke perseveres. He encourages Kylo to talk with Rey and urges Rey to do the same - Luke is confident that a solution will be achieved through dialogue, not conflict. Rey and Kylo share their struggles and experiences, and Kylo in particular shares memories of his mother and how Snoke targeted him when he was a boy. Rey shares how she was exploited as a small child trapped in a state of indentured slavery, and Kylo is inspired to consider new measures - he looks into the plausibility of freeing the stormtroopers from their servitude and having them serve the First Order because they choose to, not because they are forced to.

    - Despite this progress, the conflict between the Resistance and the First Order escalates. Massive dissent breaks out on Pumia, a largely industrial planet crucial to the production of First Order munitions. The Resistance sees Pumia as an opportunity to seize control of a planet for the first time since Kylo assumed office, and Poe and Finn decide to launch a ground attack to take the capital and establish a revolutionary government. Rey warns against it as she has premonitions of massive loss and bloodshed, but Poe decides that the sacrifice would be worth the potential victory - things have been stagnant for too long. Rey reluctantly agrees and takes part in the battle. She encounters Kylo on the battlefield and they clash, duelling and displaying their newly found accomplishment. They are both impressed by each other and the fight moves into a forested area away from the main battle. Rey successfully disarms Kylo, but only because he essentially stops trying - he kneels before her and presents her with a choice. He points out that she had two opportunities to kill her before that she didn't take - he gives her another and says that, if she believes it is right, she should dispatch him. But, of course, she can't. She can see that, despite everything, Ben Solo is still there.

    - They have a moment and come close to an embrace, but one of Rey's students has come looking for her - he sees her in the arms of the Supreme Leader and bolts, with Rey chasing after him and leaving Kylo behind.

    - Rey talks to the boy but he is inconsolable and won't listen. Rey is filled with despair but tells him he must do what he thinks is best, letting him go. The boy tells Poe of Rey's treachery moments after the Resistance have declared victory in the battle for Pumia. Poe speaks to Rey privately and she tells him that things are not as they seem, but that it is no longer right for her to remain with the Resistance - if she were in Poe's place, she wouldn't trust Rey either. Poe reluctantly allows her to leave.

    - Rey goes on a journey to clarify her understanding of the Force, resisting Kylo's pleas for her to join him and help ease the way towards democracy - she still doesn't trust him, not fully. Luke offers her counsel and supports her. Her adventures see her come into contact with a Knights of Ren or two, providing some action.

    - Kylo works with new resolve to implement a better and more democratic form of government, loosening his grip on power. He begins to institute reforms to the stormtrooper program, enraging Hux, who brings forward his plans for a coup. They get the pretext they need when one of Kylo's knights witnesses him communicating with Rey through the Force. Kylo is overthrown as a traitor to the First Order and is pegged for trial and inevitable execution - Rey feels the moment is connection to the Force is cut off, and knows something terrible has happened.

    - The overthrow of Kylo sends everything into chaos, and the First Order starts to crumble. The Resistance seizes the opportunity to attack key First Order outposts and Finn leads a ground-level revolution among the stormtroopers themselves, who have become emboldened by the taste of freedom that Kylo offered them.

    - Rey infiltrates the First Order command ship where Kylo is being held and finds him bloody and beaten. He is horrified that she came for him and they are confronted by Hux and the Knights of Ren, who tell them they can die together. Rey ignites her lightsaber and fights to defend Kylo, who is helpless and bound until Rey cuts through his Force-dampening chains and throws him the spare saber she'd carried with her. The fight together, drawing strength from each other. It comes down to Kylo fighting against his head knight, who had always resented him for his power and bloodline - with relish, the knight cuts off Kylo's hand "for Vader". Rey takes him out with a lightsaber through the gut immediately afterwards, and she and Kylo embrace passionately. There's then the sound of a single blaster shot, and Rey goes limp in Kylo's arms. He looks up to see a wounded Hux crumpling to his knees with a smile on his face, a blaster in his hand. Kylo snaps his neck with a clench of his fist.

    - Kylo is filled with despair but he thinks to the manuscripts that were brought to him by his knights, including a scroll relating the teachings used by Darth Plagueis to create life. He realises that he can sacrifice his relationship with the Force - leaving himself ordinary and powerless - to save Rey, and he gives up his powers gladly. Rey awakens to find Kylo unconscious but alive, and she kisses him as he wakes up, tears in her eyes. The man who once gave up everything for power has given up all his power for love.

    - Aware that he could never be accepted by the Resistance, Kylo leaves and Rey returns to the Resistance. Poe and Finn agree that they can accept Kylo's exile - with no power in the Force, he is harmless. The Resistance forms a government and establishes the Republic once more, with all sides - First Order remnants included - now committed to peace. The film ends with Rey teaching a room filled with children, including a boy an a girl with Ben's black hair and her eyes. The final shot shows Ben tending to a garden in a desert, looking out onto a sunset with hope and contentment.

    Star Wars: The Final Skywalker

    - It's been five years since TLJ. Kylo, now in command of The First Order/the galaxy, has been obsessed with squashing the Resistance. He and his Knights have been gathering force-sensitive children so that he can eventually dispose of them in the capital prison. Along with his Knights, he has been helped by his new apprentice, a mysterious young force-sensitive woman whom he found as a slave on an irrelevant Outer Rim planet when searching for kids. Kylo has not yet killed any, waiting for them to amass in a prison cell, but feels no conflict over the thought. Having collected hundreds of kids, he returns to Coruscant to prepare to do the deed, which will show his true strength and commitment to cause in his mind.

    - Rey has been in solitary training, perfecting her skills, on a forest planet (what the heck, why not make it Endor, JJ?). She has spoken to no one for five years, though she knows her friends are there for her if need be. Instead of keeping track of how long parents have been away from her, she now ticks marks on a tree signifying how long she's been away from her friends. She has been feeling Kylo getting stronger, and her powers increasing likewise. She wants to return soon, and she knows her work is almost done.

    - The New-Born Resistance is growing. More and more young adults, inspired by the story of the heroic Luke Skywalker, have joined. They are preparing for a new attack. General CGI Leia is still in command (show her silently giving orders and the camera pans around the booming Resistance), though Poe has been a close second-in-command and has been learning the ropes. Finn and Rose, very much together and happy even if Finn thinks of Rey from time-to-time, help train the new recruits.

    - One day Kylo receives a piece of intel of his mother's whereabouts at a base on a remote planet. Kylo's apprentice infiltrates the Resistance's base on his orders. He finally wants to accomplish something that he just can't bring himself to do: kill General Leia. Not to cause a fuss, his apprentice sneaks into her chamber. Leia is asleep when the young woman goes over to her bedside and ignites her red lightsaber. Leia opens her CGI eyes upon the hum of the lightsaber but does nothing; she knows that the Resistance will fight even harder than before, and she is at peace to go out similar to Han--upon Kylo's doing. The young woman strikes CGI Leia down after two short scenes. Disney succeeds in having all three OT characters underwhelming die on-screen. The apprentice leaves the base, unnoticed.

    - The Resistance mourns for their lost leader. Poe rises as the new commander. Finn leaves the funeral and inauguration, looking up at the night sky and wishing for his friend's return, though part of him thinks she's dead.

    - Rey feels the loss of Leia through the force and is devastated. She seeks the comfort of her friends and is suddenly overcome with anger, slicing through Endor's giant trees with her new green saber. She breaks down and cries, retracting and dropping her saber, when she sees the one of the trees she's toppled was the one where she left tick marks. She hears Finn's pleas through the force, and she knows it's time to return. She gathers her personal items and is walking to board the Falcon when Luke's ghost appears. Rey is stunned; it's the first time she has seen Luke since Ahch-To.

    - Luke tells her to look at what she did to the forest. Rey turns around and is shocked to see the devastation. Luke points out that perhaps she is not so opposite of Kylo after all and that she has gotten much stronger. The two are alike in a lot of ways, linked. He then explains that it was true what he said about them having the most raw power that he's ever seen, and that there is purpose to such madness. "Dark rises and light to meet it," he repeats Snoke's saying. When one gets more powerful, the other one does too; when one gets weaker, the other one does as well. Therefore, the two can never coexist in the galaxy. His destiny was always to be corrupted by Snoke, eventually overthrowing him, and becoming a dark-sided menace. Her destiny was always to counterbalance this, rise up in the light so that someone could defeat him, destroying themselves and the balance in the process. It was always their destiny to destroy one another. Her parents discovered this and abandoned her on Jakku, hoping she would never learn of this destiny; They often visited their baby girl from afar, watching her grow, but eventually became drunks--to shield the pain of not wanting to exist in a world where she wouldn't--and eventually succumbed to their illness and died, buried in shallow graves in the sands of Jakku and stricken with grief. Rey is overcome with both love and sadness. Her parents did love her, but she was always bound to never construct deep relationships.

    - Rey returns to the Resistance base where Finn and Poe are. It's an emotional reunion. Rose gets a bit jealous of Finn's intimate hug he gives Rey upon arrival, but she fakes a smile and is happy to see her--deep down. Rey is impressed to see Poe rather grown up and in-command. Finn is jealous, and it's all big, teenage love triangle mess. Rey tells no one of her destiny, and they go over their new plan: instead of a full-scale assault on The First Order at their heavily-armed capital and core, they will instead ensue a battle on Tatooine. "Tatooine?" Rey questions. Isn't that a bit irrelevant? "It holds significance to Kylo, as the birthplace of Vader, and he will be there to defend at all costs, bringing up all the stops but not as much reinforcement." Okay then...

    - Kylo remains maintains power in The Force Order. He is still in the capital of Coruscant, getting ready to kill the collected children. Hux is a problem here and there but is not a major threat. Kylo maintains in command through his strong force power, which he has refined and mastered over the five years. Without his family members alive and Snoke undermining him, he is not conflicted and in-turn more powerful like never before. Kylo is about to enter a prison chamber to kill force-sensitive children. Anakin's force ghost suddenly appears. Kylo is unsure, at first, who the man really is. He tells him that this is not the way to go, that he once went down this path, that everything he loves will be gone. He says he knows about the baby--it turns out he is secretly married to his apprentice who is pregnant--and tells him the whole story of Anakin Skywalker. He disappears, and Kylo is once again in conflict. Instead of entering the cell and murdering the children, he destroys the surroundings. It is very similar to scene of Rey earlier, and pans out, leaving to audience to view the parallel.

    - The Resistance mounts their attack on Tatooine a few months later, quickly taking control of the unorganized planet. After freeing the children, Kylo hears that the Resistance has taken control of it and is overcome with emotion. He sends all his forces to the planet to take back the birthplace of Vader. The young recruits for the Resistance fight well alongside Finn and Rose, under Poe's command in Mos Eisley. Kylo watches the battle from a command ship behind the Force Order Forces with his wife/apprentice and new baby. Rey is standing beside Poe when she suddenly connects with Kylo via TLJ. She tells him that the real battle is between him and her; as long as they are still here, there will be no peace. Kylo hangs up on Rey and tells him to take the baby boy into Mos Eisley to stash away until the battle is over. Poe is shocked at what he hears Rey say, asking for an explanation but Rey leaves without giving one.

    - Rey calmly walks out on the desert battle field like Moana walks to Te Fiti, force blocking any object that comes her way; it's a true Disney princess moment! The battle haults, and she demands that Kylo come out, which he does with his wife/apprentice trailing not far behind. Finn runs up to try to get to Rey, shouting her name, but Poe holds him back not far from the action (the same distance behind Rey that Kylo's wife is behind him). Rose, from an overhead ship, is overcome with sadness, seeing the love Finn has for Rey and returns to the Mos Eisley base heartbroken. Kylo and Rey start an epic lightsaber battle--one for the ages. Eventually, Rey strikes Kylo down and kills him. Overcome with grief, Kylo's wife kills the weakened Rey easily with her saber. As Rey dies, she sees a happy, warming vision of her dead parents; they embrace in the vision as Rey falls the ground and dies. Kylo's wife is fatally shot by a grief-stricken Finn. The battle is over.

    - Without their strong leader, The First Order falls apart. With their leader going strong, Poe leads the Resistance to create the New-New Republic, with its capital renewed in Coruscant. Force sensitive children are welcomed to come out and discover/hone their abilities at the Rey-Skywalker Jedi Training Center located in the capital, in memory of Rey and her Skywalker family teachers. Finn and Rose are now rich and living comfortably in the capital but still giving back to those in need and supporting the new Jedi academy. He apologizes to Rose over what happened with Rey; Rose understands Finn's feelings for Rey and knowing that Rey is out of the way, they can finally be together. The New-New Republic and Jedi work to maintain peace in the galaxy, working to fully eradicate slavery and other human right violations. Now that the Skywalker family has ended, everything is how it should be...or so they think...

    - The epilogue shows some years later on Tatooine. Kylo's son is now a young boy, about the same age as Anakin Skywalker. After his parents failed to return from battle, his temporary caregivers sold him into slavery. The boy marks a tick on his sandy, bedroom walls. There are thousands of them, counting down up the days to when the New-New Republic's laws will reach Tatooine and free him, The Final Skywalker.

After 2 years of the previous film, the Resistance is already rebounding and the First Order as well. Leia died and a statue is made in his honor. Kylo Ren is now the Supreme Leader and commands everything. The Resistance is now hidden in a new base. Luke appears as a ghost and talks to Rey. The First Order is searching the entire Galaxy for the Rebels and its base. The Resistance plans an attack on the First Order. Rey convince Kylo to abandon the Dark Side and he accepts, the battle destroys the First Order and the New Republic re-enacts. Ben and Rey make a new Jedi academy, with Anakin, Yoda, Obi-Wan and Luke watching.

I can only say that, personally, I will be absolutely revolted, if this next movie's final climax ends with Rey and Kylo kissing, as the power of romantic love conquers Kylo's dark soul.

I just don't see this happening. I just don't know see any of the interactions they've had as 'romantic' in nature. It's not romantic at all really. It's two people who are on polar opposite paths and they each mirror the other. We have 2. 25 hours left of this saga and somehow, people think they're going to end up falling in love. ugh shivers. I want Rey to help build a new order of Jedi, not fall in love with Kylo Ren and become his girlfriend. If there's any relationship to be had, it might be that the dark side and the light side can work together to defeat a true enemy and build a more balanced force. Not be prom king and queen.

Personally, I'm afraid it may be going this way. A mirror opposite to DV becoming more evil when he lost Padme, KR may become good as he embraces Rey.

NEVER thought it you;d go this way & it may not, but after seeing 8, nothing would surprise me. Especially when Rose said, "this is how were going to win, not killing the things we hate but saving the one's we love". Perhaps foreshadowing, also wold make sense why Rose is romantically interested in Finn, so he has someone while Rey & KR end up together.

Would be awful, but the stage is set if they want to go that route.

The story will be a personal and singular battle between Rey and Kylo though it will be shown they have grown stronger in the time since TLJ. Rey has been training Jedi, the broom boy, now nineteen, is her senior student. Kylo has also been busy training his own secret cabal of Dark Siders, they have replaced the Praetorian Guard as Kylo's personal bodyguard.

Meanwhile the New Rebellion has made it safely to the Outer Rim world where their allies have been, it has emerged that more than those on the Falcon escaped Crait and a mighty force has been assembled under the leadership of Poe. Leia had tried to use Force-projection to dissuade Kylo from becoming everything she has fought her whole life, like Luke it cost her, her life and she has become one with the Force. Poe has decided the time has come to hit the FO and destroy them once and for all, his deputy Finn contacts Rey and they agree a diversionary plan to lure Kylo and his FS followers to a significant planet, Kylo goes because he believes he can finally end his torment that has bugged him ever since Luke and Leia passed into the Netherworld.

With Kylo out of the way Hux leads the FO on a suicidal attack only to come up against far superior numbers and the New Rebellion wipes out the FO. Those who aren't killed flee or surrender to the Rebellion, joining them as they have now seen the truth. Far away on some distant world Kylo and his followers face off against Rey and hers, in brutal lightsaber combat all but Kylo, Rey and broom boy are left alive. Kylo drops to his knees and begs Rey to kill him and end his pain. With broom boy watching Rey refuses, she is a Jedi and above that. Luke appears, he tells Ben that he is forgiven just like Anakin was...
Ben summons a lightsaber with the Force and it penetrates his own heart, killing him. As Ben dies his clothes are left as his body vanishes. Rey looks puzzled but Luke explains that Ben sacrificed himself and has been accepted by the Force, it doesn't judge and that is why both light and dark exist equally. In the last words of the film Luke tells Rey and broom boy that "the Force will be with you always."

It’s set several years after TLJ. The Galaxy is in full scale war. Luke’s sacrifice has inspired the previously frightened freedom-loving people of the Galaxy to unite against the First Order. This sizable but ragtag Resistance is locked in a vicious struggle with Kylo’s regime.

Kylo has plans far beyond simple physical rule though, however. In keeping with his lust for power and desire to be “free” of the past, Kylo seeks to sieze control of the Force itself, enslaving it to his power, thereby bending the entire universe to his will and allowing him to reshape it however he pleases. And he’s dangerously close to discovering the secret. We see him researching tomes from Snoke and Palpatine’s collections and performing cruel experiments on helpless prisoners.

Rey, meanwhile, has been studying the Jedi texts and communicating with Luke, and is becoming even more powerful herself. She still struggles with her desire to use the Force as a tool, and we see her be more reckless with it than a wise Jedi should.

After a daring secret mission, the Resistance discovers intelligence that the First Order will have a crucial “weakpoint” where they will be vulnerable. There’s a variety of ways you could write this. Maybe Kylo’s personal fleet will be vulnerable to ambush. Maybe his capital will be dangerously unguarded. Maybe they actual discover a way to lure him into a trap. There’s a lot of ways to set it up, but the stage is set for an epic battle.

So the Resistance springs the trap, and the final epic battle begins. The power of Kylo Ren and the First Order are too much, however, and the battle swings in their favour after tense fighting. Unwilling to let her friends and millions of Resistance soldiers die in a losing battle, Rey goes to personally confront Kylo Ren.

It is then revealed that all Kylo Ren needs to sieze control of the Force is power over light and dark. It’s complicated, but Kylo, as the “rising dark” in the Force, and Rey, as the “rising light”, represent the twin sides of the Force.

Kylo Ren then offers Rey another chance to join him and they can rule all together with their mastery over the Force. Rey refuses, of course, and they duel, with Kylo deciding to take the power from her dying corpse (having learned how to “leech” Force power in an experiment). Meanwhile, with Ren’s attentions away from the battle, the Resistance launches a renewed offensive.

Kylo wins the duel, however, and Rey lies beaten. As he begins leeching her connection to the Force; however Finn, Poe and Rose, having fought their way through the battle with their combined talents, intervene to
    save their friend.

Even this proves to be too little, but ultimately, Kylo’s fatal flaw, his disrespect from others, becomes his downfall. Hux, seeing the vulnerability of Kylo Ren’s position, and having been heavily disrespected by him throughout the movie, orders his troops/walkers/warships/whatever to fire on Kylo’s castle/palace/flagship/whatever. The combined might of the heroes and weaknesses of the villains leads to Kylo Ren finally being defeated.

Rey is tempted to strike Kylo Ren down and claim total mastery over the Force herself, but, meditating and seeing her friends, realizes that power is too great for any one flawed individual to hold. She spares Kylo Ren, and offers to save him, but he refuses, and dies alone and full of pain and hate as the castle/palace/flagship explodes and our heroes escape.

Thus, the Galaxy is saved from complete enslavement and the First Order is dealt a serious blow. Celebration, and Rey realizes that the Force is not a tool to be used for one’s own purposes, or to be strictly controlled by a single person or dogmatic group, but used to help others and protect life. It’s on these tenets that Rey founds an open-minded and truly balanced Order.

Princess Leia has been captured by Kylo Ren and turned into carboni...an ice sculpture on tattoo.... whatever planet. The heroes have to go rescue her.

They send BB8 to relay a message to Kylo the Hutt, I mean Jabba the Ren, I mean Supreme Leader Kylo. It’s Rey coming to get back Leia. Everyone in the throne room laughs including Kylo’s pet salicious hux

Finn and Poe are dressed up as idk stormtroopers. Can’t be bounty hunters because they haven’t existed in this trilogy. They have captured the mighty Chewbacca.

Finn sneaks in during middle of the night to unfreeze Leia. Kylo catches him and makes him wear Phasma’s underwear.

Jedi Master Rey from the force awakens shows up, gets circled, but instead of falling for a trap, she takes down most of the guards in the room. She can’t do it by herself though, she’s done that 10 times in two movies. We have to see something different.

So she’s taken to be fed to a giant porg. She escapes it and rescues her friends and Leia.

They then have to go to Endor where the Ewoks are teenagers, almost look like Wookies. Wicket is happy to see everyone even though there’s no one left from the OT but acts like he knows them anyways.

Rey goes to Achto to see Luke and talk before going to Endor. Before Endor to, the resistance meets with Lando Mothma to divise a plan.

While there are some peeps on Endor, Nien Nunb and Rose are on a mission on the falcon to destroy the the Death Star 4.

Rey later surrenders herself to Kylo and instead and they wind up fighting. The Death Star is about to explode but Kylo saves Rey sacrificing himself showing there was still good in him.

Party on Endor 35 anniversary style. The Galaxy is celebrating. They are unaware though that 30 years later 10-12 will happen. Poe dies in 10, Rey 11 and Finn in 12. Rose doesn’t show until 12.

    The end!

Hard to tell. If the movie takes place many years after TLJ, Kylo could have a different obsession altogether. It's hard to tell if being Supreme Leader for 3 or so years, Kylo would still be obsessed with the nobody scavenger who he's not - so far - connected to, other than the mind meld that Snoke performed. Anakin went to the dark side to save his family. Vader and Luke were family, and the fact that Luke came from Anakin, proved that there was good in him somewhere. Vader was redeemed for the same reasons, saving his family. Kylo is all about killing his family, so I don't see redemption there.

It's also hard to tell, because this trilogy has so far taken place over 2 weeks, so it's hard to tell what a character might be obsessed about years later. It's like, earlier this year I played the new Zelda game for about 3 weeks straight. Didn't do anything else. If you had filmed me during that period, you might believe that I was put on this earth just to play this game, going to be playing it forever, only wore pjs, loose my job, my girlfriend, never shave again, and stop everything else in my life. But now, many months later, I haven't it played it once and haven't really even thought about it since the spring.

It's why I think it almost makes sense to make the movie set 10 years later - almost like a epilogue - almost mirroring the gap between EP 1 and EP 2, and just make it so everyone is in really different places. This specific trilogy doesn't seem concerned with showing us natural growth in characters, so it shouldn't even bother with it. Just leap ahead to where they need to be at the end.

I'd love a "Downfall" plot for Kylo and the FO.

Kylo Ren has assembled his KoR and used the FO to crush opposition across the galaxy. Poe has assembled a new rebellion from the remnants of the Resistance and the new rebels fighting against the FO.
Rey, unable to complete her training with Luke Skywalker, uses the ancient jedi texts to help complete her training before Kylo Ren and his dark knights strike again.

Well Kylo didn't follow through with killing his mother. I guess that was supposed to be the hints of him turning "good".

The problem is that nobody truly sees Vader as being "good" only redeemed. But is it really redemption? He killed younglings and scores of others so he cannot simply reverse what he did. WIth Kylo maybe there will be a different message than the one set with Vader/Anakin. Kylo cannot be redeemed, forgiven, or atoned. However, he can make his one last act one that ends this cycle.

And maybe that is the whole purpose of this saga-to put an end to this cycle. Republic-dark empire-rebellion-Republic-dark empire-rebellion on and on and on until SOMEBODY put the last nail in the coffin and destroys the dark side forever. There will still be evil but the dark side for this set of stories at least, must end.

If the Skywalkers end, so must the dark side showing that was the purpose of the Skywalkers in the first place. BUT that means they cannot make movies in the future that deal with the light side and dark side. If they do, then ALL of the movies 1-9 mean absolutely nothing, at least for The Skywalkers.

    A Work in Progress:

    Ep. IX: The New Rise

    The NEW REPUBLIC has revived.
    The fledgling First Order
    evolves into a NEW EMPIRE.
    War has again overtaken the
    galaxy.

General Leia Organa and Jedi Master
Luke Skywalker have left their legends
to light a fire of hope. The New Jedi
and the Knights of Ren lead the charge.
A deadly stalemate has been met.

Eager to end the lengthy war, New Republic
operative Finn leads a task force to gain
more followers for a key strike to bring the
New Empire down once and for all....

    10 years after TLJ

    NE SSD and Blockade
    over new planet;
    Finn leads task force.
Finn, 3PO, Chewie and Maz meet with underworld allies
New world occupied by New Empire which is stripping it for resources.
Finn discovers DJ and attempts to warn others, but too late.
    Battle ensues.
    NE contingen is besieged
in by Gen. Dameron in a space battle
    stopping NE from destroying world
General Poe Dameron congratulates Finn, Leia is passed.

Finn and Rose takes control of FO Dreadnought during battle.

    Hux is offed.

Rey and her New Jedi followers attempt to ambush KoR and Kylo
in a hidden new planet sanctuary candidate gladiator match
    but become outmatched
by new NE anti-Jedi troops but Poe, Rose and NR forces rescue
great battle with space battle instigated,
    Kylo and knights escape

New Jedi living in a village in new world similar to Ahch-To

A new rookie Padawan is presented with a tour of the New Jedi.
Another the New Republic military with new standardized
    Starfighters

Scientists and Jedi dissect commandeered ship to finally
discover any NE weaknesses or data.

The kyber crystals used by the NE
have minor A.I./Force spiritual power and their overuse by
the NE leaves them crying out in anguish.

Kylo and Poe have a space dogfight duel, Ren narrowly winning
    Poe in critical

The recovered data and NR intelligence
confirms that Ren is gearing up for 'final strike'

Heart-to-heart calm before the storm between Finn, Rose and Rey in new NR
    capital world

Finn, Rose and Rey's second in command lead preemptive strike.
But NE fleet engages NR at its HQ simultaneously.

Poe recovers with BB-8 to help defend NR HQ.

Final space battle between Dreadnoughts and Super Ships,
HQ strike is a ruse and NE capital is an acceptable loss.

Ren intends to awaken an ancient Force power to empower him
    and grant him 'balanced' powers

NR space/ground contingent pursue and attack
NE space/ground forces for New Jedi led by Rey and Padawan
    to go through

    KoR vs. New Jedi showdown

Kylo vs. Rey in epic, demonstrating their swordsmanship,
    psychic abilities and Force powers

The beast goes out of control.

Luke returns from the grave, stating he told Ren he'd see
him around and aids in the endeavor of stopping the monster.

Ren attempts to reach for Rey but commits assisted suicide
by allow the dying beast to take him with it into the dark
abyss. Knowing it was too late. Luke tells Rey Rey can find solace that she at least tried to help him.

This is through the eyes of the new Padawan for the final
battle. Rey's arc having been completed.

    Rey wishes for Luke's council.

NR and New Jedi come together, not to celebrate but maintain diligence for future threats.

The creature and Kylo are transported elsewhere and are not dead. Their threat looms.

Jumbled and imperfect and copies off the PT, I know, but I thought of everything that might get my blood pumping for Episode IX. It should be every bit as epic as Avengers Infinity War. They should hold nothing back.

What I think will happen (as I'm very cynical about the direction TLJ took):

    • 5 years after The Last Jedi, the First Order have established the second Galactic Empire.
    • The Resistance is now the new Rebel Alliance.
    • The Rebels will defeat the entire Empire in the final act of the film, rendering the entire trilogy a shallow and meaningless rehash.

They way I see it Ep. 9 might not be about whether the Resistance can defeat the First Order. The movie might be more about survival. It might be about the survivors on the Falcon darting around the galaxy trying not to get caught. It might be about the Resistance desperately trying to find people to join their cause. It might be about them desperately trying to acquire more ships and resources.

Maybe it will open with the resistance's final victory against the first order, and the rise of a new threat.

Episode Ix: fall out of secrets...

Kylo gets ousted as Supreme Leader after his treasonous murder of Snoke is revealed.
Rey gets ousted from the Resistance after it gets out that she has a Force Skype connection with public enemy #1.

Force story becomes Kylo and Rey, both ostracized from their factions. Force story becomes about finding balance.

Balance tips the scales against the evil first order.

    Balance prevails.

It could be really cool if Hux finds out Kylo killed Snoke. One would think that would be a big reveal and it might be but I could also see Kylo straight up admitting it. Maybe Kylo basically tells Hux, "yeah I killed Snoke! What you going to do about it?"
