    My missus and kids have talked me into getting a dog

    We have a Maine Coon (Cat) and an array of fishes and I think they've preyed on knowing that I've wanted a dog for ages (had a retriever as a child) and the kids (11/13) now feel they're old enough to help support looking after a dog.

    I tentatively agreed to the idea yesterday afternoon. I now have three appointments to see puppies tomorrow (Goldador, Retriever and Lakeland Terrier) and the missus has Identified a further array of possible dogs that I would be OK with that will also suit our lifestyle.


    It appears I'm likely to have Chewbarka (No other option according to the kids) by the end of August.



    I'm both excited and nervous.

    Dude totally rename her, you absolutely have that choice. I got my current dog from a shelter, and since they got him around Christmas they named him Kringle. I can't think of many worse names for a dog, so naturally he got a new name for a new life.

    No, "Jaap" is a common old-fashioned Dutch name, and I like giving my cats old-fashioned Dutch names.
    "Japie" is to "Jaap" what "Jimmy" is to "Jim".

    Jaypes just has a posh first name :p
