    Welcome to the official Art Gallery thread. Feel free to post a picture of your artwork on anything.

    [image=http://i102.photobucket.com/albums/m119/goldfinger_02/raidonterrorbirdisland.jpg]

    This is my picture titled Raid on Terror-Bird Island for my novel of the same title. It's about a small company of US marines led Major Fairbanks of the OSS who's mission is to visit an island in Japanese mandated territory the Caroline Islands to sabotage a Jap gold depository and mining operation. But little do they know that the island is also inhabited by giant pre-historic flightless predatory birds, like the one above.

    this was because I'd just found out how to make rain in photoshop. I had been surfing the net for drawings of winged people, and none of them actually looked like the wings were connected to their backs. So I had a go.

    And that picture of the bird is awesome. how long did it take to draw it? I really like how it's looking at the guys at the bottom of the piccie.

    Fallen:

    [image=http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v333/NeecH/Artwork/Fallen.jpg]

    I originally did this one as a painting but auctioned it off - I missed it so much that I decided to do it again but as a comic page.

    Leonardo Da Turtle (B&W Days):

    [image=http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v333/NeecH/Artwork/Leonardo_Da_Turtle__B_W_Days.jpg]

    Done as a request for a friend (though I love the Ninja Turtles too) - I also have a full colour version.

    Spring Blossoms:

    [image=http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v333/NeecH/Artwork/Spring_Blossoms_by_ApneicMonkey1.jpg]

    Just an image I had in my head that I had to get out onto the canvas.

    It took me about a week to draw my terror bird picture. Yours looks cool, I especially like your use of colour to bring the picture to life.

    NeecH's Leonardo da Turtle is looks awesome in black and white.

    I so like the Fallen picture. Did you use a computer to draw it? I've always loved the comic book style, but have never yet figured out how you do it.

    A picture I did after I got sick of using basically the same colours over and over again for the skin. And, well, the arm and leg bands just got out of control.

    [Edit] [face_laugh] can't believe what the boards did to my picture...

    Thanks, I really dig your pic too. I'm a big fan of the more blocky style of comic art. -

    The Fallen picture itself is traditional pencil and ink but I coloured and painted the sky in Photoshop.

    Here's the original pencils:

    [image=http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v333/NeecH/Artwork/The_Fallen__Part_1___Pencils.jpg]

    And speaking of Photoshop, I've been mucking around with creating completely digital works and this is my first attempt at a starfield - next I'm going to work on painting some planets or whatnot into a similar background.

    Oh, wow. You have real inks? =P~ Awesome, I've never had the money (or the skill, I've only recently started drawing coloured pictures) to do ink drawings. Are they really fiddly to work with? I wouldn't mind doing a course for comic book art, it seems to be the main style right now.

    These are all in a sort of group of five people. I've yet to do the last one, and I was just wondering if anyone can spot the connections. I'm trying to get the skill of convaying a personality within a drawing, so if anyone would hazard a guess it would be really appreciated, as all the people that I've asked their opinion are familiar with my art. Milney, I didn't realise you were into 3d ;)
    Anyhoo, that image would come out a lot better if you set it up with global illuminance. Especially the cinema screen...there should be a lot of bounce and diffusion.

    What course did you do?

    The theatre is based off the middle section of the front four fows of the Capital Theatre in Canberra. (there's 210 seats in my theatre, the Captial has more than 1,500 and it's one with a stage, not a screen).

    Shadow, the lack of global illumination and caustics in the theatre are due to the rendering engine I used. I used a Maya Software render at a high production quality. I had troubles with the Mental Ray rendering engine (which has global illum controls and caustic controls in the renderer intself). Mental Ray wouldn't accept one of the deformers I used in part of the model, and so would create errors in the geometry.

    I've been interested in 3D for a while, just haven't had the chance to work on it alot until I got to uni. I'm studying a BA Multimedia/BA Television Production. The class that that was for was '3D Modelling & Rendering'.

    Awsome. Is Maya the only package you use? I know it's the unofficial Australian Industry standard but I'm not much of a fan.
    I've just been contracted by Rio Tinto to do a 3d model and animation of their proposed Uranium mine in the Pilbra. It's a huuuuuuge job but I'm not sure wether to go 3dsMAX or Maya. Tis a tuff choice so it is.

    Unigraphics NX ftw. :p Back when I was into the whole graphic design thing I loved 3dsmax, but it's been so long now I've pretty much forgotten how to use it. It's a versatile program, though.
