    okay...

so, we all get into making our own costumes, and we all seem to be pretty proud of it! So, why not post a piccy or piccies (in a few cases) of the costumes that we've made over the years?

Of course, everyone knows that my site has photos of the costumes I've been making over the past 3 or 4 years, along with some others. I've made most of the costumes in the photos, including some of Arcticfox's stuff (Boromir, Neo, etc)follow the link in my sig if you haven't already!

Come on peoples, lets share these costumes we keep telling each other about! :D

A-D, I know you have a heap of Amidala/Padme costumes, join in! I have some photos of you in the Leia you wore for Life Be In It - I could put them on my site if you wish.....only with your permission of course!!

Hey there :) i have only just started gettig into costuming and props. I dont have any as yet but im seriously working on it, My last few weekends have been consumed in the efforts of building saber hilts and i will be going out this weekend and buying my self a dremel multi tool and a decent set of pipe cutters the first one i made didnt turn out too bad but through my research on the next next few are going to be Fantastic.

Ive been checking out the trading post too, i wanna get myself a second hand sewing machine so i can get into the costuming side of things, have some great ideas. Go the Dark Side!!! ;)

Some of the costumes i have seen are pretty immpresive, you guys have done an excellent job.

    hey D-D!

we'd love to see when you've finished! If you need any advice or guidance while you're making costumes, just yell out. I'm sure one of us here will have ideas of how to help! We all had to start somewhere. A-D and I have never had sewing lessons, but I think we do a pretty decent job!

    :D

Hmmm. I might be able to track down some of the photo's I had of the costumes I modeled for my friend, I helped out with most of them. Dancers Bikini's my favorite, (sigh,) I can't believe I used to be that toned! :_|

I did the extra detail on the maroon cloth with gold thread and I painted the Bussh helmet for the Bounty costume. My own costumes aren't as good, maybe the Endor dress, I'm unhappy with my military costume. Oh well, I'll try to find them and has anyone tried to tackle any of the very different costumes? I'm talking the '78 Leia figures with the seventies clothes? I think I'd love to try something like that.

I havent sewn since high school but was pretty good at it (just dont tell anyone) ;) i have the Saber hilts down pat now and now im just fooling about trying new designs give me a couple of weeks and will get some pics posted. Im even working on having led lights built into the handles. They are all made out of Chrome plated steel and alluminium and look very cool

Hoping to have a costume ready for R.O.T.S, so no doubt i will be asking you lots or questions on the how too aspect of things.

My one and only costuming effort. Very little sewing but lots of tracking things down on the net. The helmet has a lot of work. D-D, a dremel (or cheaper copy) was very handy for some of the cutting and chopping I had to do.

Just to clarify, I'm the one in black :D

    really? I'd never have guessed D-M! :p

It'd be good to see them Aiel, just to see what others are doing. Hey, you're only 19 - you should still be toned!!!! Doesn't matter that they're not yours, although we'd love to see what you've done too. :)

Oh, and yes, Adalia has done some of the early Leia costumes from the (uh-hm) '70s. Dont forget, that's when us old folk discovered Star Wars!! :D (sorry to you other old people......not meaning to show your ages up)

I'm thinking of maybe doing the Aayla Secura for the premiere, or just wearing my white Padme again. Not sure yet. You won't find me in a slave Leia bikini - I know what sort of pervs these guys are!! :p

I was fourteen in that Leia costume, I'm only nineteen and I feel so old, I need sleep. And yep, I'll get the picture sent to me from my friend, I missed that costume when it got sold. Lucky bugger who owns it, my Endor dress is pretty, but I don't think I have a full length picture, (sigh) I have all my Leia gowns from when I was little, they're cute and I'll get photos from my Mum of those. And the '70 costumes I was wondering about were actually on Leia dress up dolls, I've only ever seen a few pictures, but they're actually seventies clothes on Leia dolls.

I just thought it was something interesting to try out. I'm going op-shoping while I'm in QLD to see if I can track some down, they're just worn with ANH buns.
    God I miss that Binki.

to temper your obsession with the bikini......there was one for sale on Ebay not so long ago. It looked pretty good, but not for me, I'm afraid. I don't like being the centre of attention that much - would prefer to sit in the background helping out. :)

Yeah, I know the clothes you mean, but we tend to stick pretty strictly to costumes from the movies. I just thought that you might have some really cool costumes when you said you were a 'wiz' - maybe I read wrong? :) I should put the picture up of Mara in her Endor costume her mum made, it's gorgeous. And it's all her own hair!! In fact I will.....

Anyway, tis good to see everyone is interested in costuming up - it's funny how many people come 'out of the closet' when they find others doing the same!! Looks like we're going to have a lot of Jedi at the premiere in May! :D

I wish I could forget the bikni, but I can't. It's just something me, and especially boyf, has to deal with in our own time and pace. :(
Costumes I'm a bit of a "wiz" as you put it, I'm primarily a writer, but I sketch up costumes for my characters as well as Star wars clothes. It's more or less a distraction from actual work, though I love it writing isn't big money. Costumes are, my friend that uses me as a Leia/Padme model got me to model the moss coloured cloak costume from Episode III on the private market. Get this... five thousand dollars from a Swiss collector. But she's good, really good.

Still miss bikini...no, must get pretty costume out of head...going to stab brain with qu-tip.

    Later.

Your costumes are all awesome! Those of you who don't have pics online, I hope you find them because I'd love to see them :) I've only made one Star Wars costume so far, and that was for a friend in 2002. I was going to make one for myself at the same time, but I ran out of time. It's been on hold ever since. I've been keeping up to date with the latest news on RotS and I'm seriously pining for Padme's Peacock gown. Maybe next year I'll get to it. lol

I've been making costumes for the last 8 years :) I have photos on my site. Just click on 'completed' to see them.

    They include:

    Star Wars
    Jedi (for someone else)

    Lord of the Rings
    Eowyn's green gown
    Eowyn's white wool gown
    Eowyn's refugee outfit
    Legolas

    Harry Potter
    PoA Gryffindor student robes

    Babylon 5
    Ranger
    Army of Light uniform
    Psi-corps telepath

    Ancient Egyptian inspired
    Batgirl
and a few other fantasy gowns.

This year I have a few LotR projects on my list, my own jedi costume (finally!), a couple of Babylon 5 costumes, and some other things :) I can't wait to make a start on my lightsaber hilt. I'm up to the shopping stage, and just need to get myself into bunnings one day :)

oh my god, i love your eowyn costumes! I really wish I'd made an Eowyn. She's my fave LOTR character.

They're beautiful costumes, Starfire, well done!!

Thanks :) She's my favourite character too, and I'm slowly working my way through her wardrobe. lol I've been obsessing over LotR for the last few years, and it's been hard to do anything else. Does it show? :)

You say that you wish you had made an Eowyn costume like you missed your chance. A friend and I are organising a Lord of the Rings picnic for later this year. Are you interested? :) It's the perfect excuse, not that you need one :)

Thank you :D I'd be happy to show them to you sometime :)

It's time to move on to the next project [face_devil] Mwuahhaaahha I'm really itching to get my jedi finished soon-ish ... if only it wasn't so hot! ick! I'm going to make my own belt, accessories and lightsaber too :)

The only hurdle I've found so far is finding dark brown wool for my robes. I'd like to get some wool flannel, but it's very hard to find here. I've done some searching online, but it's hard to find there as well! Spotlight had some last winter, so they may have it this winter as well, but I'm not sure when they will start stocking their winter fabrics. In the meantime, I'm on the hunt... lol

    Awesome, TK1571!

I'm a bit of a fan of armour at the moment.... most types of it, not just plastic, though I'd like to learn how to work with plastic at some stage.

Is that your Ringwraith that's in some of the pics floating around the place?

I found a new fabric shop near Castle Plaza today, Stacies Fabrics I think it was called. They specialise in unusual fabrics and had lots of stuff in the 'remnants bin cheap'. I got the entire underlay for my next project for $3!!! Have you looked in the 'furnishing or curtains' area? I found my bodice fabric in curtains!! You just never know!

THis was a few years back, but it's me and DJ having a 'brother and sister' fight... ;)

Those pics are soooo cool, and I just love seeing kids in costumes. They look so adorable! Your padme packing gown is excellent too :) How did you make the headpiece, and is that your real hair?

That new store sounds wonderful. You got a great buy! I'll have to check it out sometime :) I've seen a few nice things in the curtains section... it's very dangerous [face_laugh] As it is I'm having a hard time keeping away from Lincraft at the moment. They have a sale for the next few days.... 30% off all fabrics....

So, what are you working on at the moment? Or is it a secret?

was magic of myth really 3 years ago?? Wow...where did that time go then? :)

I'm interested in a LOTR thing - dont' know if there's any clubs in Adelaide per se, but not harm in getting together and costuming up!!

Hey Quinny baby!! You should give us LOTS of warning this year when the medieval fair is coming up, I might just make a Eowyn inspired gown for that!! :D

Anywho, keep 'em coming people, I'm loving seeing what everyone else has done costume-wise and seeing how bad mine really are!! [face_laugh]
