I don't begrudge you your responsibility. Good that you take it seriously. I simply don't see what the problem was. Can I help it that someone thought fit to edit my CLQ profile and make tasteless jokes through it?

I simply don't care much for the idea that it's believed I don't have the presence of mind to "censor" myself, or what have you. That's all. If I'd truly felt there was something genuinely offensive in the post I'd made, I wouldn't have posted it, and your immediate assumption that my intent was to -be- offensive is more than a little disturbing in my view.

That's all I'm saying.

 

The fact that there was an immediate link to offensive material, a link which was strongly connected to the topic, well... now thats just bad taste. And why oh why, if you can see that this is tasteless, did you not edit it out?

 

Why did I not edit it out? Because, I felt it wasn't necessary.

I made a judgement call. In my view, the "humor" in question might have been somewhat crude, hence my tongue in cheek commentary about it, but I did not, in all honesty, find such material to be as shocking and scandalous as you apparently did. As I said, if I had believed it to be genuinely offensive, I would not have posted it.

I don't so much care what you find offensive, and what you do not. (And I don't intend that to be read as a patronizing, pretentious statement) You're most certainly entitled to your opinion, but as I've said before, the implication I see being being made here isn't so much that Topic X is taboo, or Topic Y is tasteless. Instead, it seems to be that my judgement is unsound, and as you can well imagine, I truly do not believe it so. Furthermore, I very much resent being told that what I do is irresponsible or anything of the sort. I don't consider myself a saint, but I also resent being instantly condemned as some sort of sick, twisted individual whose only business being here is to draw scorn, blame and censure from the administration.

Whatever the case, I'm not too interested in dragging this out any further. It's getting rather petty... on both ends...

 

Can I explain my responsibilities as a moderator? I am here to keep posters in line with forum rules as I see fit. Personally, your personal info is not in my best opinion, family-friendly. If you're unhappy with my decision, you can bring this up in Communications and ask whether doing indecent acts to members of the armed forces is in line with our regulations. If you do not like how I handle my position you can go to another board.
