Just a couple of quick shots of tonight's sunset behind a foehn wind, which is locally called the Nor'Wester. It causes high layers of cloud and a hot dry wind, and it often gives me a headache. Not sure why, weird pressure and heat differences I suppose.

Wow KW I love that second shot.

I just bought myself a new camera so I can get back into taking photos. I haven't had much chance to try it out yet, but I'll put up a few that I have. I used to take lots of pictures and I haven't in years so feel free to give tips or rip them apart. I'm just excited about being able to do this again!

Thank you, Lisa . I see you've got a Finepix there. Fuji always makes good cameras. Their DSLRs were renowned for their extreme dynamic range, and it's unfortunate that they don't seem able or interested in releasing a successor to the S5. A D700-equivalent would be a huge hit with wedding photographers.

I'm guessing you can tell what kind of camera I have based on the name of the picture link. My mom has a Fuji lightweight camera that is amazing. So when I looked for a camera I went with something that I was more familiar with. My only stipulations were zoom and I wanted it disposable battery powered. I had horrible luck with my old camera and the rechargeable battery deal so I didn't want to lose my camera again because the stupid thing wouldn't charge and the company insisted nothing was wrong with it.

 

The link lets me get the information, but only because each photo's exif data is available. My photos are missing this, though I don't intentionally remove it.

I've thought from time to time about getting a point and shoot, but I couldn't really afford to get a decent one, and I'd probably feel like anything that went toward a camera like that would be better served going to another lens. I assume yours uses AA batteries, which are rather invaluable. Rechargeable ones can be a problem.

 

I've got three rolls of color neg to take to the lab tomorrow so I should have some stuff to put up in the next couple of days. I've also discovered that Nikon must have been in cahoots with with the battery companies when they debuted the F4. The camera requires 6 AA batteries, but there is no combination of packaging that will get you exactly that many batteries.
