ST Potential plot twists in TFA

I don't need to name anything to disagree with it being the greatest one in history, and the impact is irrelevant

 

I'm not sure it would qualify as a twist, but a nice subversion of expectations might be if Kylo Ren steals the Millenium Falcon and it becomes the bad guy's ship for this trilogy.

If you don't believe it's one of the greatest plot twist in film history, you should be able to name some others that are greater.

And why is its impact irrelevant?

 

Bruce Willis' character was a ghost the whole time.

Sure it was if Vader didnt equal Father in ur language. But I am an American so one of the greatest plot twist of all time in my book

I think this would be an ideal path for the sequels.

 

I've actually been secretly thinking this would be a hilarious social experiment.

for the very first theatrical releases (opening weekend), show this as a post-credits scene, but don't include it in the real version, and watch everyone flip out.

 

Also, I think one of the new big three is gonna bite it in 8 or 9.

Maybe Poe Dameron will die like Han Solo should have in the OT.

His death could be a potential slipping stone for Rey's fall to the dark side.

nah I'm glad they kept him alive in the OT 'cause him dying in Episode VII would/will be much better. it's a good chance to add a bit more depth to his character (without ruining the 'fun rogue' persona) since Ford hated him and a good chance to reverse how lame they handled his character in ROTJ.

I had an idea in another thread where Kylo Ren unexpectedly gets murdered by another villain and Rey/Finn witness it (like when Gus kills Victor in Breaking Bad but less graphic and less cold/more emotional) but that's not a particular interesting plot twist (though it could still be a good plot, just not in a plot twist kind of way).

 

Incredibly stupid plot twists:

Heroes win the day in Episode VII. Uber and Ren are dead. Everybody's happy!

Episode VIII: Hay guys we cloned Palpatine and he got some clones from Kamino batten down the hatches broooooooooo

 

Where you around when the film originally came out? If so you should know how huge a twist it was.

Unfortunately you can't keep a plot twist like that a secret for 35 years and 3 prequels later either, so thats why everyone now knows about it.

 

funny i used to have a dream just like that. in the dreams everyone hated the films and i never understood why but then i watched them all and at the end it zoomed outwards revealing the whole thing was some fat alien kid's dream, kind of like the end of men in black. then i got really upset because i saw what all the hate was about and i hated it too.

i think it was me trying to understand why so many people hate the pt films when they don't deserve it.

There have been very few genuinely good plot twists in blockbuster films recently. Maybe Inception, but that was not based on any previous material. Like the TDK movies mostly played out the way fans expected, it was just executed well that we didn't need any crazy twists. Harry Potter ended almost exactly the way fans predicted and it still worked mostly.

 

Final scene:

Luke emerges from the cave on Dagobah. Yoda is there waiting to continue training him.

 

Luke is pregnant with twins. The force moves in mysterious ways.

 

Luke wasn't missing. He joined Starfleet.

 

Luke is married to 20 woman and has 500 children (don't kill me for this proposal, it is possible in some regions on this planet, so why not in space)
