Also updated some pictures and put them in the correct places thanks to one Ian Potash on Dropbox who notified me of 4 incorrectly identified pictures.

One Quarter Portion I was watching an Adam Savage video on something else, and he was talking about working on Padme's apartment and he apologised. He was serious - saying sorry to the geekverse for working on such a lame film. I mean what a great life - so what's with the beef?

    Anyway it's a free world - let's make Hans Solo's blaster !!!

Was CGI actually ever used in these movies? Seams not.

Coming soon to a galaxy near you:

Digital Effects in the Prequels - Wireframes, Textures, Virtual Sets, etc.

That actually wouldn't be a bad thread to have. :p

Nice! I've never thought that I would be able to see the chancellor's office from above!

Interesting to notice a Yoda puppet sitting where the CG version will later be placed. I wonder if they ever intended to use the puppet in AOTC or whether it was just for temp shots, and whether the one in this shot is the same prop from TPM.

The puppet was there for the actors to help them interact with something, unlike what many say that they had green screens 100% of the time. For example:

When they were filming the fight between Dooku and Yoda:

Interesting, it does seem to be a different prop from the TPM one, as far as I can tell.

I wonder if there's any behind the scenes footage of it in action.

Ha, Lee's reaction to that was hilarious.

"I can't believe you did that, George, I really can't."

Do you feel like minis with inserted actors looks as good as built to scale sets?

Sure, I don't see why not. It worked fine in other films like LOTR too. I mean, Kamino is meant to be a sterile alien world, which would be hard to convey and create via large scale sets. They're better than some of the awkwardly composited matte paintings in the OT.

I think the CG backgrounds mostly look good too.

That's cool. I'm mostly asking because I don't know if you can tell the difference between the two on film
