PT Practical Effects in the Prequels- Sets, Pictures, Models, etc.

The Bearded Trio posted a video of behind the scenes pictures set to music today. The funny thing is, at the moment it has 15 up votes and 23 down votes.
Let's give them a round of support and show those haters.

Do you mean "why did Lucasfilm make behind the scenes videos featuring actor's opinions?" I don't know, why don't you write in & ask them. Pose that same question to them.

I directed people to the time point of the comments by the actors & crew. No need to watch the RLM stuff unless you wanted to.

That picture made for great speculation when it was used as a "Screen Selection" (I believe that's what they were called?) image.

 

I think the lady with the bottle must have it because it was cold on set maybe - at least for some of the less dressed !

I love the photo of Anakin, Obi-Wan and Padme 'on the bus', with Ewan with his feet on the seat. Can't remember if it's like that in AOTC, but I can imagine it's something Ewan might try - because - well he's a Jedi so he puts his boots up.

Anyway getting the space bus - a lovely 'everyday' scene - and they built the bl**dy thing !

She only appears for, what, 3 seconds max?

 

Any idea when this was taken? Part of a re-shoot or a make-up test way ahead of principal photography? Hayden Christensen's hair were very long before they decided on the ROTS haircut, so perhaps the Sith Eyes were tested on him back in 2001 during the re-shoots for AOTC.

I have seen in behind the scenes videos actors use a one or two colors sticks. How did the post production add the "lightsaber effect"? Digital rotoscoping? Chroma-key?

 

I don't know, but I always found this Hayden's quote quite interesting

 

Check out the youtube video called "Birth of the Lightsaber". It's from the Blu-ray set and explains how the effect is achieved.

In the old days, pre-CGI, the beams were indeed achieved using rotoscope animation. Now they're done with CGI.

 

Admittedly, this is the first time I've seen this image. Do we have any background notes regarding these characters, or any info on the photo? Any EU info? Location in the actual film?

My French is very rusty, so I did a Google Translate and tried to fix it:

They're either at the Outlander Club, or outside in the streets, as the blurb may suggest. I dug around a bit through Wookiepedia, albeit somewhat briefly, and haven't been able to find any info yet. Anyone have any details? The dude does look like Sate Pestage, and I would assume that was the inspiration for his design. Unless it's an Easter Egg and maybe it is him? I'd imagine if it was Sate, we would know by now.
