I feel like the once and current players of ELL are Y list celebrities now.
Here's a question for folks regarding the new boards. The code to insert a line across the width of the post no longer appears to be supported. Is there substitute code that can fulfill this purpose?
You need to click on the symbol "+". There you can find the stright-through option. Was that what you were looking for, @Trieste?
Not quite (though I was about to start hunting for that as it turns out so I appreciate that!). It's more like a page break, like so:
(You get the idea.) I don't suppose @jcgoble3 knows what I'm talking about.
Yep, I do. It's broken right now. AFAIK it's on the list of known issues, but probably not very high on the priority list.
Aha! So it's not a feature replaced with another, just a currently unsupported one. I can make do with a triple asterisk until it's fixed. Mystery solved!
Does [hl][/hl] work for anyone? I see so many posts, including the beginning of this thread, where a highlight/background color was apparently intended, but I just see the markup code for it. A bit distracting and not fun when it would've been a dark color to pop out a light color font.
I'm using Chrome, so maybe a browser thing?
I think its an update issue that we are still working on. @LAJ_FETT Is that correct?
Not sure about that. I know it hasn't worked since the upgrade. However if you want to change text color you can do it from the post screen - it's the circle that looks like a half-moon. Just highlight the text to change and click the circle to choose the color.
Sweet... Just wanted to make sure if the [hl][/hl] thing was just me and everyone else could see the colors, Or if everyone else had the same issue and we all just weren't talking about it.
Wow, it's great to see people are still getting some use out of this old thread! It sure has been around for a long time!
It still gets used often. With the latest update of the boards, it may get less use, as there is less of a need for using markup.
It's useful for when somebody randomly gets the urge to post a bunch of smiles for no reason. Lol.
question how do I post a picture without using a google image url? google no longer allows you to take url's of images.
Are you talking about from Google Images. It used to be you had to right click on your mouse and use "Copy URL" grom the menu. Did they change that?
Yep you can no longer acces that.
I am only tried a couple images, so I dont know if its Google wide. Was there an announcement of a poilcy switch for them? In any event, images (other than those for avatars) have be posted from third-party servers.
