If Hama can not make the Panel, I am pretty sure Joanzia will be there Fanforce Global Support. I will be there as well, but do not want to be on the panel :)

It's not definite what days I will be able to make it. I won't know until sometime at the end of next month. I wouldn't schedule me, unless you can wait until about 30 days in advance.

If Hama can not show up then I can be on the panel. We are going to have 4 RSA's there so one of us is bound to be able to make it on if something happens to the other.

MysterySith, now why wouldn't you want to be on the panel? ;)

Four RSA's? Who else besides you, me, and MysterySith?

Commander Antilles from the UK is looking at going. :) All we need now is for the other four RSA's and Lightsabre to come and we will have the primary FanForce staff there. :)

WOW, 4 RSA's that is pretty cool. If it were just a Fanforce panel that would be one thing, but all those people. I am not sure about that :)

    Hi all,
Joanie and Ian, if you could email Cathy at either motf@yahoo.com or sf-motf@worldnet.att.net : she can get you on the schedule. Her computer is still in the shop so email at both addresses to make sure she gets it! Of course we want everybody to come to the panel, we are limited on the number of panelists :)
As of now, we will have reps from the Moisture Farmer Co-op, Tennesee Star Wars Collectible Club, The 501st, Atlanta Fan Force, Fan Force Global, and maybe Star Wars Chicks, or the Qui-gon Jin discussion List.
that will be 6-7 panelist which is pushing our limit. You get too many people, nobody gets to really talk about anything. But the nice thing is that this is the last programmed panel of the night. After it is the Cantina, which is an informal time where people can continue discussions, watch fan films, play with the large assortment of Star Wars Games we have, etc.
I hope you will all come up and introduce yourselves to me sometime during the con. I'll be a fixture in the MotF room, so it won't be hard to spot me!
    Thanks,
    Janet

This sounds great to me. I'll send Cathy an email too. So, Joanzia and Hama, are you guys okay with me sitting in representing the Atlanta FanForce?

Have either of you ever been to DragonCon? It is HUGE. MOTF is just one small portion of it. Atlanta FanForce is trying to see what we can do to organize an "outing" for everyone coming to Atlanta from FanForce. Stay tuned for more info.

One small part? Now my feelings are hurt ;-(
Just kidding. Dragon*con is Huge! There really is something for everyone and usually too much of everything for everyone. There have been times when there have been at least 4 different panels I've wanted to go to at the same time. Of course, those were the pre-MotF days when I wasn't chained to the room<lol>
But I think you brought up an important point. There are over 20 program tracks running at DC at any one time. There are ALOT of Star Wars fans there, ALOT. But it isn't just a Star Wars convention. This has been a point that we've tried to stress when people can't understand why we can't have Anthony Daniels in our room 24/7. The convention owns him, not us. We have to share his time with all the other program tracks. British programming in particular. Plus, alot of the Celebs are there to sign autographs and make money, being on panels takes away from that. Which is ok, most of our Star Wars guests do not get their expenses paid. So, they need the autograph income to cover expenses. This is one of the reasons you'll see a more fan based program schedule. Fans always show up for their panels! We have also found that they have more interesting things to say. Every once and a while, we'll get a zealot. They can make things fun or annoy everyone.:)
    Thanks,
    Janet

I have some friends who have cheographed a duel.

    Having watched them perform, though, I have to ask: Does the audience get padding to protect themselves from flying lightsabers? 8-}

LOL- I'll suggest that! The performers will be on stage and the audience are back a bit from that so I think you'll be safe. I caught the very end of it last year. They put the reactor chamber up on a screen for the background, it was really cool. We do need someone with A/V or DJ experience to help us hook the cd player in to the audio system The hotel charges $45 each time! We don't get any money from the con so that is out. We might have to give everyone kazoos and have them hum the theme<G>

I didn't mean to insult the size of the track. Sorry about that. MOTF has alot to offer, but with DragonCon being SOOOOOOOO HUUGGEE, it's hard to say that the Star Wars part is an "integral" piece. However, IMHO, it is a great part of the con and makes it all the more fun. Especially getting to see the wonderful costumes and the SW discussions held.

Hi, just wanted to let everyone know that MOTF will be having a planning chat tommorow, July 6th at 10pm EST on IRC dm.net, room 6667, #join MOTF. We will be discussing mostly Escort duties. If you have a costume and would like to escort some of our Star Wars guest, come by. We also have chats on Sundays at 9:30 pm EST. Please feel free to come by anytime and ask questions and make suggestions.
    Thanks,
    Janet

BTW--rumor mill has it that two more Star Wars guests will be attending. One Male, one female, but no confirmation on who yet.
    I'll let you know when I know.<G>

I've been told that you can't see it with netscape for some reason. But Cathy is working on it.

Hello Atlanta just wanted to see if you guys could maybe post some info on restaurants or cool places to visit while there at DragonCon. I know there is alot of stuff listed at the DragonCon website, but it would be nice to hear from the people who live there. :)

    *Can't wait for DragonCon*

Well, if you bring a lot of small bills, or buy a pass on MARTA (our public transit system), there's quite a bit to see and do.

In the immediate walking area of the con (which is smack dab in the middle of downtown), you have a Hard Rock Cafe, an All-Sports Cafe (I don't think that's the right name for this chain), a McDonalds, a food court with a couple of delis, a Chick-Fil-A, and a Chinese buffet. And a bunch more restaurants that escape me, right now. In short, it would be hard to starve while there, unless you run out of money.

You can also hop on MARTA and go two stops to Underground Atlanta. Yes, it's a tourist trap, but please spend your money there. It helps our tax base. ;-)

But Underground is a shopping center (again with a food court) that was developed out of an original street in Atlanta. And, yes, it's underground. It's kinda fun to see, if you never have. It's also home to the famous World of Marketing, er, I mean the World of Coca-Cola.

You can also head north a few stops to Lenox Mall. It's an upper-end shopping center that's a lot of fun.

And if you have a car and REALLY want to sight-see, you can drive out about 30 minutes to Stone Mountain Park. Tons of stuff to do there.

Anyone else local want to jump in here?

I think you covered all the bases there Rosiewook. Certainly more than I would have mentioned. The great thing about the con, is that the cheap restaurants are literally next door in a food court. Makes cheap eating great. I would also like to mention that we are trying to get a FanForce "social" luncheon/get-together arranged for DragonCon. Our city coordinator is currently working on this. Keep watching the boards for more info as it comes available. We should have finalized plans well before DragonCon.

Just got my schedule for August and beyond. My days off will be Tuesday and Wednesday -- absolutely the worst in terms of making it to DragonCon. I may drive down just for a day, but I don't have enough vacation days to be able to stay very long. :(
