Lit Preparing for NJO

I really hate when Star Wars is, for lack of a better way to put it: disrespectful to itself. Stuff like TCW ignoring all the previous lore on the Nightsisters, Ventress, sweeping the 2003 series under the rug, and stuff like what you're describing. There's a fine line between making something accessible by making it somewhat standalone (apparently the Darth Caedus arc does this somewhat, ignoring the Yuuzhan Vong War to a large degree. I'm hearing that second hand though) and completely disregarding a great work. Sounds like this is just another case of that.

FWIW the Nightsisters were retconned long before TCW came along.

anyway isn't it easier just to say kreia and vergere are the same character and they're both evil and be done with it? there's no wisdom to be gleaned here

 

"Darth Kreia" was actually Vergere's Sith name.

 

While misunderstandings of the storyline lead to the Traitor and Kotor II being downplayed, their legacies are not tarnished.

The fact that the posters here are defending it and are irritated by its lackluster treatment is a sign of their quality.

The whole Kotor 2 and Traitor downplay seem to actually ruin the legacy of TOR and LOTF. Not the other way around.

 

When were the Nightsisters retconned?

In other news, Ive begun the JAT. Not great literature by any means, but certainly enjoyable enough. The blob races were something special.

 

The Quinlan Vos arc of Republic Comics had a somewhat different theme for the Nightsisters - a bit more like TCW.

 

Yeah, Gethzerion's group was supposed to be the first iteration of the Nightsister's, with her as the founder. Therefore, every appearance of the group before her reign is contradicting Courtship of Princess Leia. Heck any Nightsister existing before the Empire Era is a retcon.

 

COPL is very specific in pointing out that the Nightsisters don't ride Rancors because the Rancors won't let them. This was forgotten by subsequent stories.

 

Yeah I like that part in the starwars.com EU memorial video when someone says COPL was their favorite EU book because it has witches that ride rancors around.

 

My favorite book is Jedi Search because Luke first becomes a Jedi Master in it.

 

Wasn't Luke portrayed as "already a Master" in Dark Empire? I seem to recall something along those lines in the endnotes.

 

Dark Empire isn't a novel.

 

I, Jedi was my 1st favorite Star Wars book. I've come across a few since that match it (Stover's ROTS Novelization, the prior mentioned COPL, Shatterpoint, etc.)

 

Is it too much to ask for someone to make star wars rpg's in the vein of KOTR 1 and 2?

Ive read it. I guess the TCW nightsisters do resemble them pretty heavily.
