i find it hard to judge how good the film is. it's such a throwback but i find it reinterpretes star wars in an exciting way.

some aspects i find tedious but i've found space battles tedious since the dawn of time probably. so i like how good the acting is in places, especially adam driver and harrison ford. both are outstanding.

it's just not a film like any other. and i've been posting for 3.5 months straight now so it's difficult to maintain some kind of rational mind about something that means so much to me.

and after a discussion with someone today about ROTS and the echoing scenes in the two films it was even harder to let go and think about this straight.

but anyway, yeah, i have many many opinions about the film but very few pertaining to its quality. what i do want to say though is how rushed it feels in places. that's not my thing at all.

    Citizen Kane is 3*
A Space Odyssey is 0.5* (half a star)
    TFA is 2*

The Adventures of Robin Hood with Errol Flynn is STILL the only good Robin Hood film ever made.

What in any of that was trolling? You don't get to call someone a troll just because the spoke an extremely true and valid opinion that you disagree with.

The poll is skewed: there was no option for 0-stars.

I've been a big fan of Queen for many years. I liked some songs/albums more than others, but I'd rather listen to Queen's weakest songs (like Radio Ga-Ga or the theme from Iron Eagle) a thousand times over than spend four seconds listening to Vanilla Ice's bastardized version of Under Pressure -i.e. Ice Ice Baby.

Disney has done for Star Wars what they did for Monday Night Football: taking something I enjoyed for many years and made it almost unwatchable. If I want to watch a half-baked remake of ANH, I'd much rather watch Axel Braun's Star Wars porn parody. At least that doesn't have lens flare.

    Makes perfect sense...

DOOKU And Anakin are a glaring analogy of power and darkness, deceiving others. As is the theme from ROTS.

    ROTS+DOOKU+DD= Resigned Troll.

    It's a perfect explanation

If you hate lens flares, "ignoring concern trolls" won't help you put up with the blinding examples of them in RotS. So again...

OK, I'll go down the lists of "reasons" (paraphrasing posts from certain...people "explaining" why they bought each of the PT movies when they came out on DVD despite thinking they're horrendous) why this is the case:

"They're only buying them for the sake of completeness!"
"They're only buying them because they've watched TCW and are assuming that the prequels are going to be as good!"
"They don't know how much they hate them yet!" (Yes, this really happened.)
"They just want to 'hate-watch' them!"
"They're buying them as presents for other people!"

My favorite "explanation" for buying TPM when it came out on DVD can't be applied to the current scenario, but I'll repeat it because it's truly flabbergasting:

"It's the first SW movie to come out on DVD! I had to buy it!"

ETA: I noticed that ESB, the "universal fan favorite" and "last good SW movie, until TFA came out," is No. 5 on the list.

Ultimately, opinions are like ********s. Everybody's got one. The thing to remember is that TFA is the first chapter of a 3 part story that picks up where things left off, THIRTY YEARS after the last chapter. Just what would be the point of having everything explained in the first episode? There has to be questions left unanswered, there has to be mystery and intrigue. And correct me if I'm wrong, but TFA has left us plenty of that, hasn't it?
Just who the hell is Snoke and what is his story?
The origins and identity of the Knights of Ren?
How comes Luke was so blind to the deception of Snoke and subsequent betrayal of Ben?
Just where does Rey fit in to all this and what is her destiny?..

You see, bucket loads of mystery and intrigue there. Which TFA merely needed to pose to leave us wondering in anticipation for VIII. Which it successfully did (for me)

    The prequels.

Everyone's already has got them or is getting them you mean?

    I agree.

Actually stretch that out to the OT as well.

It seems more like at times that it picks up 53 years after ROTS.

Enjoyed the force awakens excited to see where it goes from here. I love all the Star Wars films so it was easy for me to judge. The only let down was the music specially comparing it to the Prequel trilogy.

The thing is episode I was my first star wars film when i was very young. So i understand where the OT fans come from when they said the PT didnt feel like star wars. The force awakens had this missing touch for me which was something the Prequels gave me.

Overall loved it, it was Star Wars to me either way excited for the next!

I suggest listening to the entire score, front to back. At least a few times.
