PT Prequel Highs & Lows

What, i thought that beard was all him.....oh i c, i might have to watch closer next time....

I also quite liked the pod race I must admit... Oh and special mention for Magna Guards! I thought they were brilliant.

Worst

GG! Every scene... I hate this character more than Jar Jar! When he lights up 4 (yes 4!) lightsabers the weapon was destroyed for me...

My good scenes would be about 10 my bad about 1000

 

There is nothing in the Sequel trilogy that strikes me as being worth watching. When i was very little, I did rather like TPM, but that was probably because I was very little. When Clones came out, I very distinctly remember thinking "wow this sucks". I had no idea what was going on, who were fighting who and why people were going where they were going. The battle of Geonosis was so ridicolous it didn't even make sense to my early teen age mind. Everything about the seperatists as villains suck; they're not menacing, they're not intimdating, they do not seem to have any cohorent ideology or plan or anything. Their visual and artistic style is absolutely awful.

Highs:

1. Good soundtrack
2. I like the phantom menace duel, i still think its pretty nice.
3. hmmmm..... uhhh... I suppose the opening of Sith was nice for the first couple of seconds.

4. I did like the last lines like "you were my brother". Which had some emotion actually. Although, in retrospect, given how close Anakin and Obi wan actually were, the dialogue is woefully inadequate.


Lows:

1. nonsensical plot
2. laughable, uninteresting heroes
3. laughable, uninteresting villains
4. an appalling art direction (the enemy army looks like a ****ing circus)
5. all other duels sucked, and they were ridicolously long, obviously used to compensate for the lack of plot and the lack of emotional investment in characters
6. Anakin's fall was totally botched
7. Anakin was far too important to the storyline. He should have been a secondary character.

Highs:

1) TPM- Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon on the Federation Ship, kicking ass as Jedi in their prime

2) AOTC- When the clones arrive on Geonosis and the first battle of the Clone Wars begins

3) ROTS- Ruminations


Lows:

1) Jar Jar, of course, but not to the extent of his hate club's complaints. Pulling back a bit on Jar Jar's antics would have been just fine for me

2) The younglings/Finding Obi-Wan's planet scene, specifically the horrendous child acting and Frank Oz's voice performance. Yoda sounds really creepy here, even though he's supposed to be coming off as all heart-warming and sagely.

3) Had to really think on this one... "He killed... younglings," I suppose. I'd just prefer it if he said "children." Otherwise it sounds like awkward mincing of the terrible act and I've never been too fond of the "younglings" term anyway (see above!).

Just to be clear, i wasnt angry. haha, the exclamation marks might make it seem that way but as cool as hoth...

Opening battle of ROTS

Lows
Jake Lloyd
Most of Jar Jar's scenes
TPM battle to destroy the Trade Federation control ship. Should have had a more epic feel to it.

 

Highs:
-Padme Ruinations or Padme Ruminations? Great music by John Williams!
-Obiwan staring at the Clone Factory on Kamino as he doesn't realize at the time, but he is watching the birth of the Empire
-3 way Lightsaber Fight between Obiwan/QuiGon/Darth Maul. Love the visuals, and of course the music is perfect!

Lows:
-The Turn Scene in ROTS (Totally underwhelming)
-Jar Jar in TPM (Way too much of him in the first 40 minutes)
-Padme losing the will to live (Uggh, makes it look like she bailed on her newborn kids and it doesn't jive with Leia/Luke's conversation on Endor)

 

That, made me question the point of being a Jedi in the first place. Its OK to use the force to cheat at gambling... but... Tython forbid, if you want to use the force to attack and kill your-comrade-murdering enemy. That fight should have been over before GG finished the words "Jedi-slime"...

 

Grievous should have had Force powers. ( But then he would have one-upped Vader, so no go. )

 

Or just use Maul in his place, instead.

I like a lot of things the PT has to offer, however, those ten are constructive criticism on how to make the movies better in general.

 

A way for PT fans and haters to discuss what they like about the PT. My top ten:

10. Ian McDiarmid
9. Anakin at the end of AOTC- beginning of ROTS
8. General Grievous
7. Count Dooku (Christopher Lee sells it for me)
6. Darth Maul
5. Palpatine
4. Obi-Wan was great in ROTS- Ewan McGregor got better as the PT went on
3. Anakin killing the Separtists was hilarious
2. Mace Windu's death and Order 66- the music was fantastic for both scenes
1. The fight to End all lightsaber fights
Although I like the OT better, those are some things I will say the PT did right.

 

Maul? Who should've been the villain throughout the PT?

 

Uhh what? The PT was about Anakin Skywalker and his rise to Vader so no he should not have been a secondary character, he was and always will be the main character

 

I wonder if Darth Maul was active during ROTS?
Now that he isn't as dead as we knew he was.

 

Rather than Anakin simply being a fallen Jedi, they turn him into Space Jesus and make him crucial to the fate of the galaxy to make him super important only because he's important to us, the audience.

 

My favorite part was when Anakin saved everyone's souls.
