Yeah, the filmmakers are very, very few and far between who are trashy enough to debase another artist's art. Liking it or not is something else, entirely. But, nobody wants cinemakarma biting them in their arse when they pour their heart into something of their own and then watch as it gets pissed upon relentlessly.

It's funny you mention how it's more high tech than the one in the prequels. Comparing the two, the AotC one is much simpler and minimalistic, while the TFA one has [NOPE] usually ugly over-the-top colors and that horrible lens flare sheen that make it look completely unrealistic. It's so flat it looks like 2D animation. It's also messy and badly designed. I can't see how anyone could make anything out of that. No wonder Ford looks flabbergasted.
They didn't care to show stuff like this in those behind the scenes videos. I wonder how the "real desert" guy would have explained this abundance of CGI effects.

Seeker Of The Whills - Cool it with the bashing. Also, that name you called JJ Abrams could easily be read as quite offensive.

What?!?! That new Thrawn imposter acts completely different than the original. Jan Ors looks different, sounds different, acts different, and has a different backstory than Jyn Erso! Those aren't our old characters!

The Thrawn I know doesn't let the enemy escape unless it has a tactical advantage.

I see no references here. Just two Skywalkers touching R2, nothing special [face_batting]

Funny, because one of the first things Luke Skywalker did in HTTE was escape from Thrawn. :p

Letting someone escape is a whole lot different than failing to capture someone.
Also that wasn't completely Thrawn's fault, a man died for his failure.

Thrawn didn't let Luke escape. And regardless of whose fault it was, Luke did escape Thrawn. Thrawn is not infallible; he was never portrayed as such in Legends nor should he be in canon.

I never said he did. I meant that he let the Ghost crew escape...

I don't hear it, I'm afraid. Just a variation of the Star Wars Main Title/Luke's Theme.

It's an ancient map. That's why it looks worse. The Jedi Temple most likely had the newest technology.

Isn't it obvious? They reused a ship design only briefly seen in AOTC and ROTS!

I've always felt TFA was a total PT rehash. This proves it.
