I knew Luke wouldn't stay behind. He has too much of his father in him. Whie should have been more firm with Luke but it appears that the Force needs Luke there and I would guess Whie will need backup!

Loved that Vader is so vile that he would taunt Obi-Wan about Alderaan. And thinking that Vos is now expendable. Perhaps, Vader is a little too cocky at the moment.

Looking forward to seeing where you are going with this.

Hang in there Obi-Wan, you'll understand what to be prepared for soon enough. But, I have a really bad feeling about what Vader has planned. I think it is going to be good for Luke to be there because I think Whie and Vos are going to need his help.

I really like how Quinlan discussed his own choices compared with Anakin's to Luke. Vos' motivations to helping the Order are becoming clearer and clearer. He has a family, one of whom wants to be a Jedi. What better way to secure his son's future?

Vader chills me. He knows the leaverage he has on Obi-Wan and doesn't hesitate to use it at any moment. His planned execution of Vos only shows the depths he's sunk to in the Dark Side.

I'm thinking about all the things could happen- and I don't have a good feeling about parts of it. I can't wait till the next post.

Tanith_Shire: Will we meet Korto? I've never seen him in a fic before.

Korto will make an appearance at some point. :)

Gkilkenny: But then again dont just kill him because I have
    accepted it.

Lmao! [face_laugh] At least one of us has accepted it.

G__Anakin: Can't wait for the next couple of chapters I have a felling this is about to get good!

I hope so at any rate. [face_worried]

TS:Even though we can't see it now, I feel like there is something more behind that armor.

Let?s hope so. For our heroes sake. [face_worried]

Jaina_clan_solo:even if Vader is slightly surprised by the presence of Luke and Whie, I still think that he can do a lot of damage.

Especially if he gets any sense of Whie. ;)

Kyn:If only Vos knew what was ahead for him! Maybe he'll be somewhat suspicious. Vos has always been cautious towards everyone

True but this is Vader he?s dealing with now. [face_mischief]

Peagis:I hope they all are able to escape from Vaders clutches!

Cross your fingers and toes. :D

Leona:He's right because age and experience changes a lot of preconceived notions of love and what's right.

Too bad Anakin couldn?t see that before it was too late. :(

saber crazy:All I know is if there's one thing I remember from the old days...when it comes to evil plot twists I trust you about as far as I can force push you.

Yeah but I?ve mellowed in my old age. [face_batting]

VL: You've really retained Luke's personality here.

Oh good! I really worry when I write him. :)

    KMA:Vos has outlived his usefulness?

Well at least as far as Vader is concerned. [face_love]

Independence1776: How can anyone slaughter children? And how can people prepare to watch loved ones die?

It?s a mystery to me as well. One of those factors that makes it difficult for me to buy Vader?s redemption.

LIO: You're making me nervous, oe!

    Moi? I can?t imagine why. O:)

Diane:perhaps, Vader is a little too cocky at the moment.

Just wait. It only gets worse. ;)

Noi:I think it is going to be good for Luke to be there because I think Whie and Vos are going to need his help.

I think you could be right. ;)

LadyLunas: He has a family, one of whom wants to be a Jedi. What better way to secure his son's future?

That may keep him from ever fully quitting the Order. If he survives that is. [face_devil]

Thanks as always to Noi for letting me pick at her brain. @};-

    Chapter Fifty-Seven

Darth Vader, Lord of the Sith, stood with gloved hands fisted on his hips as he watched the graceful docking of Quinlan Vos? ship. There was no need for him to glance sideways in order to know the scanning crew had arrived and awaited his orders. He was confident his men were on high alert and prepared to spring into action at the slightest signal from him. Nothing would escape his notice, everything in place in case Vos was up to no good.

The Force had been in a seeming state of chaos for days, whispering warnings that refused to make themselves known. His instincts assured him that someone or something was putting plans into motion that could explode in his face if he weren?t vigilant. He had no clear idea of what exactly the threat was, but he trusted his connection to the Force and all signs pointed toward Quinlan Vos. That almost nagging feeling had only increased tenfold since the ship had set down, Vader's senses now screaming.

Vos most likely saw a chance to blackmail him for more money, carrying tales to the Emperor of how Vader had been playing out a lie of omission for years now, hiding Kenobi?s presence on the Death Star from the Sith Master. They both new Sidious would be greatly displeased if he were to discover his apprentice?s deceit. No one was safe from the Sith?s rage, least of

Way too cocky is Vader. He seems to think himself almost invincible (except for his Master and even there...) He's in for a little surprise - or maybe a big one. You've got a lot of rescuing to do!

    Great job.

I love your portrayal of Vader. It's exactly right! =D= But I still love tall, dark, and grumpy! :p

Vos held his silence for as long as he could but eventually had to give into temptation. "Why are you doing this?"

"Because I can. And because it pleases me. That is all you need to know."

There was no time for Vos to respond as the door slid open and the troopers pushed the prisoner into the room before departing, leaving the three men alone in a room that seemed to swell with emotions. Vader watched as the two former friends studied one another in uneasy silence, Vos? mouth opening and closing numerous times before Kenobi took pity on him and spoke first.

"It is good to see you old friend."

The words visibly impacted Vos, his muscular body shuddering as he surprised both Vader and Obi-Wan by striding forward and using one hand to pull his old friend close for a brief embrace. Vader felt a measure of smug satisfaction when his enhanced vision spotted Vos slip something from out of the bag that now hung between the two men before tucking it into the front of Kenobi?s tunic. He remained silent about what he had just witnessed and watched as Vos took a step back and began to inquire about Obi-Wan?s health.

Vos? true intent was now clear, the Kiffar willing at this point to direct Vader?s attention and suspicion toward himself. Both men were fools if they thought any plan to outsmart him would meet with success. Pressing the button to summon his men once again, Vader began to plan how best to use the knowledge he had.

"I?m afraid I must break up your touching reunion, gentlemen. My men will escort you to separate cells until I decide what to do with you both."

Uh oh. [face_worried] That doesn't sound good!

    Can't wait for more! =D=

Ch. 56: Korto! It's just awesome that he wants to be a Jedi. I really loved Vos's answer to Luke's question about whether he would have turned to the dark side for those he loves.

Vader - grrrr! I'm going to take some satisfaction in the fact that he has a big surprise coming to him.

Ch. 57: Not good, not good, not good. Your potrayal of Vader gives me the chills. At this point it seems that any of Anakin that he had in him is good and buried. I'm very worried about Quin and Obi-Wan; I do wish Vader hadn't seen whatever was passed between them. [face_worried]

    Wonderful, as usual.

    Thanks for the PM!

Uh-oh. I keep forgetting the Force would warn Vader of danger as well, even though he's a Sith.

There was also the remote possibility that Vos had had an attack of conscience and now sought to free his former friend from his captivity. The very idea was simply too ludicrous, Vader knowing all too well that any such plot would fail miserably unless he chose to allow it. Ludicrous? Not at all... Uh-oh... Plans... oh, dear.

"I want a thorough scan and report anything out of place you find directly to me." A pregnant pause before he continued. "I sense something. A presence..." This is not good...

Vader?s interest was peeked when he saw Vos sneak a sideways glance back toward his ship. Interesting that something that had been a common occurrence during all of his visits to the Death Star seemed to be holding any interest for Vos this time around. It was a sure sign that the former Jedi was up to something. Vader shouldn't be this close to figuring it out!

In time he would be the one in a position of unquestionable power and have his own powerful apprentice in the form of Whie Malreaux. In his wildest dreams!

"These weapons are crude and no doubt the work of failed Jedi." Vader?s voice rumbled with distaste as he thumbed the activation button of the ?saber he held, a glowing green blade hissing to life. "Any remaining Jedi of worth have been eradicated already which means you no longer serve any purpose." Uh-oh.

The dragon inside was stirring, alerting him that he should be mindful of the man before him. Vos was the key to advancing his position as well as bringing him closer to that which he craved the most. He had no clear vision of how or why he knew this to be true, it simply was. This is not good. Not good at all. I can see a path of rescue and then ambush by Vader in which him and Whie meet... Not good at all.

Kenobi now has a lightsaber. But Vader saw Vos slip it to him. Vader is going to figure out what is going on. You can't let him, oe!

Vos? true intent was now clear, the Kiffar willing at this point to direct Vader?s attention and suspicion toward himself. Both men were fools if they thought any plan to outsmart him would meet with success. But he doesn't know about Luke and Whie being there...

Vos spun around with eyes blazing and started toward him but Obi-Wan caught his friend by the arm and held him back. Amused by the display, Vader watched as the two Jedi were lead from the room. There were so many possibilities open to him, it would take meditating on the situation before he made a decision of how to handle his guests. Either way, he was certain to enjoy the outcome. Vader is Vader is Vader.

Vos being captured is going to mess up the Jedi's plans rather well, isn't it?

I missed seven thousand six hundred and twenty-seven posts, but I am finally back! I?m so sorry I missed so much, but RL got out of hand.

Chapter Fifty-Four ? Poor Alderaan. I can?t believe I said it should go boom. :_| But it was a wonderful chapter, I especially liked Garen?s metaphorical claim about masters and apprentices. Very nice.

Chapter Fifty-Five ? A stowaway, eh? Very good. It was a natural way for Wormy to get to MegaMaid (? :p ) without having to rely on clichés and forced plot devices. So in other words, woo hoo! I am also glad that dear Whie is happy to see Luke. He needs to be there, I think.

Chapter Fifty-Six ? I liked Luke?s talk to Vos. Its nice to know that his family is alive and kicking. I look forward to meeting the little Vosling. Poor Obi-Wan. I just hope you decided not to kill the old man?

Chapter Fifty-Seven ? You didn?t kill Vos? Darn? I mean good call? :p I?m surprised Vader was so easy to fool. Maybe this will be easier then I thought. Hmmm? Never mind, this is you we are talking about OE? :p

I realized that I?ve really missed Whie. So that being said, MORE! :p

I am sorry I have been so silent these last few months; I have not been able to get online! I am lucky to have survived.

I loved Luke's meeting with the Jedi. That is just how I pictured Luke interacting with the old order; one has new ideas and the other is stubornly sticking to what the know best. It is exciting, how ever, to hear that the Jedi are willing to follow the Whie and Luke - the jedi of this new era!

And it kills me to not know what Vos is playing at. I agree with Vader - Vos had to know that he would catch the exchange between the two ex Jedi. Thank goodness he didn't kill Vos. I like the whole holding cell idea, good Vader, death is bad.

The remark was made in a flippant manner but Vader could detect the underlying strains of unease. He allowed the silence to build between them, savoring the increasingly discordant strains of the Force that swirled around the other man. Vos had merely brushed the dark side and all of its powers in the past and had no true concept of who, and what, he was dealing with. The man was in for a harsh lesson in what it meant to be played for a fool. I loved your potrayal of Vader. So evil and cunning but just enough overconfident to not expect Vos to have brought help. It's not going to be easy for Luke and Whie to do all the rescuing on their own though. [face_worried]

    Oh no.

Vader has semi-well-founded suspicions that something is in the works. Vos' actions with Obi-Wan are only helping that train of thought along. And with Luke and Whie thrown into the mix, I sense disaster.

    Chapter Fifty-Eight

Using a Jedi sensory enhancement technique, Whie was able to keep track of the scanning crew?s position as they made their way through the ship. He could sense the almost frenetic haste in which they did their job, no doubt eager to report their findings to the accompanying troopers before fleeing to a much safer location on the Death Star. The instant he heard the faint click of their boot heels as they moved away from the hidden crawl space, he reached though the pitch dark and gave Luke?s arm a squeeze to signal it was time to make their move.

Drawing on their combined Force energies they were able to push the concealing panel away and set it on the floor without making a sound. Luke unraveled his lankier body first and gingerly climbed out of the cramped cubby, moving aside to shake feeling back into his legs while Whie crawled out. Whie was careful to avert his face so his young apprentice remained oblivious to the pained grimace that chased its way across his features. It was just the Force reminding him that he wasn?t getting any younger.

Together they replaced the missing panel and cautiously moved toward the back of the ship with their hands hovering over their light sabers. Pressing their backs against the wall, Whie peeked around the corner to find the men bent over their equipment with their backs turned toward the two Jedi. Gesturing forward with his fingers, he and Luke pushed away from the wall and were upon the hapless men before they even sensed the impending attack.

    "Sleep," Whie whispered in his
