Dearthvader, as Wolfe has pointed out we do not have alot early stuff that is canon except for a new dawn, but as jedi ben pointed out there is the legends books that tie into the clone wars cartoon. The show is canon so if any of the clone wars material we got in literature before the reboot does get put back into canon it would probably be the events of the karen miller books.

And while then legends books are not canon l. I would also recomend Kenobi by John Jackson Miller, it is a standalone novel about Obi wans early days on tatooine. It is not likely to be contradicted by anything in the new continuity execpt for mentions of two jedi from the dark horse comics.
