I've been thinking and banging this idea around for a while, many of us have costumery and prop items that need a little work or at least someone poking us in the back to get finished :) The shop down here is coming together nicely, how about a workshop party this coming month? It would be a Saturday afternoon til it died out, how would that do for the E.S.? I'm in Tacoma and would host this one, maybe someone else with a shop could host another month ;)
I have room and a place to do molding, a machine to vaccum-form with, and a sewing machine to use if you don't have one but know how to. I got sanders and a dremel, movies to watch while we whittle/sand/carve/form/cast items. I do ask that items to be formed are your own work or at least not the work of another hobbyist without permission. George? that's another story ;)
Either March 10th or 17th is what I'm thinking, this is the place to discuss your own schedules and how they might conflict. Let me know, let's build something.
    Joey

I am okay with either day. The 17th IS St. Patricks Day though, just an FYI. :)

Drunken prop making? Sounds fun ;) Well like I said, noon-ish til party time, and everyone not wanting to hit the road is welcome to party in town.

All my gear and projects live in my shop. Sorry but there is little I work on that I could take on the road.

But I am in my shop nearly every weekday and weekends. Just stop on by.

I'd love some help constructing a blaster for my padme costume, and a ceremonial Leia belt. I'm totally up for a prop day.:)

I have patterns for the Leia belt already (as well as other gun belts).

Back in the day, a friend of mine did a HanSoloesque/Corrillian pirate type costume for Leia.

Made her a gunbelt that looked like the Ceremonial belt but with a blaster sling.

    I wouldn't say that.

Have your day. You've planned it. Do it.

I was just saying it didn't make any sense for me to attend. And I can do other day if people want it.

Ahh come on, I keed ;)
You should come and hang a little, haven't seen half of this club since Halloween. Seeing that I would be host, it would be like any other gathering with snacks and pop for all attending, and just a casual hangout kind of day. Chris I know is working on a buck for forming parts of his 2-1B droid, and maybe we'll be ready to form parts that day in clear acrylic or carbon fiber. Gonna be fuuuuuuun :)

Ok, so let's call it the 17th of March, drinking games are allowed and encouraged but no using the blowtorch if you see two flames :) Note: I will be using a Rubies Vader as a template to make a couple of helmets with styrene plastic. Just saying :)
Everyone is free to bring stuff to sell or make requests for items you're looking for in this thread to be bought...at that time. (yeah!)
There are several supply stores in the area for various items, maybe we can do a junk run to go looking for prop material.
