I definitely want to watch The LOTR TT...

As for locations: what about Silvercity Richmond or Metropolis??? Anywhere would do, as long as we watch this.

I might be able to bring a car if its on a weekend...so whoever lives in vancouver may possibly hitch a ride; unless some of my friends join in...

And for the CN Imax...I'm cool with this. When do you guys want to watch this??

    6. LOTR: The Two Towers @ SilverCity Metropolis on or after December 18, 2002.

Notes: Hi, everyone. :D There?s been some definite interest from those who have posted in this thread or who have sent me PMs/IMs over the last few days about seeing LOTR: The Two Towers; thus, I think this would be an excellent sixth Activity. ;)

In terms of location, I think we should opt for SilverCity Metropolis, as we have people coming from Maple Ridge and Vancouver. What I need to know from everyone now, is what day and time (E.g.: afternoon or evening) do you want to watch it (as I'm not even prepared to venture a guess as I'm sure many will have hectic pre-Christmas schedules)? So please, feel free to post these details in this thread, so that we can finalize them. ;)

I'm up for LOTR TTT during Christmas break (SC Metropolis is good - I'm in Kits and have a car).

I might be persuaded to see AOTC on IMAX again, if the date you guys pick works out. Although it makes me cry not having those 20 minutes in there! :_|

I think that we should either see it @ 12:01am (if they're doing screenings then), on Wendsday, or we wait till the weekend.

Could we try something on a Friday or the weekend since I'm definitely not allowed on weekdays...

Oh and details about the Eastside Christmas Carol:

Held at Windermere Secondary, starts at 8:00 on December 19. It's a comedy and plays on the whole myth that the Eastside and Westside carry. It's an original play and has some pretty funny stuff though unfortunately I've been cast as the Ghost of Christmas Future, I definitely have an important role. ;)

Just to make a small report here :D

No matter what anybody said I really like Nemesis. tears were in my eyes when I saw what Data did... Is like watching one of your close friend leaved you... :_| It pain my heart to see the big E been slowly and painfully pull out of shinzon's ship.

On a lighter note. The space battle and that Argos class shuttle and it's all terrains vehicle are the coolest thing.

Since I think that we don't have a lot of stuff to do this month, I kinda figured that I'd take the opportunity and propose an idea for our next activity.

    * 1. What: Welcome Back Pub Night at Douglas College New West.

    * 2. When: Next Thursday from 5:00pm to 1:00am (You don't have to spend the whole night. wink.gif )

    * 3. Where: Douglas College New Westminister, 700 Royal Avenue, New Westminister. Meet me at the New Westminster Skytrain station at 4:45pm.

    * 4. Price: Free. grin.gif

    * 5. Duration of the Activity: Depends on how late you want/need to stay.

    * 6. Proximity to Rapid-Transit: Douglas College New West is a block away from the New Westminster Skytrain station.

    * 7. Extra Notes: This isn't exactly a planned activity, and I'm not sure if anyone can make it. Hopefully, some of you can, and I would hope so, because I want to do something to treat you guys, not to mention take the pressure off of Dan to plan an activity. grin.gif

Hope to see you guys there. grin.gif

    Yes...but there's going to be pop...and chips...and other food.

I should know. I was at the pub night last semester. :)

And besides, it would cost you money to get beer tickets...and be of age.

And since I said it's free, there's nothing to worry about! :D

Alex, this is an interesting idea (and please more ideas coming). :) I do have a few important questions that need to asked though. Firstly, as this event is being put on by Douglas? Student Union, don?t you have to be a member (a Douglas College student) to obtain admittance (as they are offering free food)? Also, I?m a little unclear on the location; specifically, is the Upper Lounge of the SUB a year-round pub? Lastly, as you have been there before, can you tell me whether or not they allow minors there?

Hi, everyone. [face_grin] Now that 2003 has begun in earnest, it's time to start planning a very rough/rudimentary schedule of Activities for the year. So far, I?ve listed a few possible Activities below, but I can?t reiterate enough that these are just ideas and not set in stone. There are a few other ideas that I'm currently working on/researching. But right now, I?m really just looking for everyone?s input. [face_wink] Do you have what you think may be good idea for an Activity? [face_confused] If you do, then let?s hear it in this thread or you can send it to me via [link=http://boards.theforce.net/user.asp?usr=706979]PM[/link].

Also, I?m hoping to diversify the types of Activities that we do, as right now, we tend watch a lot of films (and there are quite a few promising ones coming out in 2003 that I?ve listed). But there?s so much more that we could do like sports, RPGs, hiking, etc. And I'll be completely honest with you, both you and your interests will determine the trajectory/direction of our FF Chapter. [face_wink] Thus, what would you, our members, like to do in terms of Activities in 2003? [face_confused]

    [blockquote]
Part Two: The Tentative Schedule of Activities (TSA) for 2003: The Long-Term Schedule.
[/blockquote]
[li][hl=floralwhite][link=http://pacific-space-centre.bc.ca/]H.R. MacMillan Space Centre[/link]: March or April, 2003.[/hl][/li]
Notes: Another Activity that I?ve recently been thinking about is us possibly checking out some exciting (not to mention interesting) exhibits/shows at the [link=http://pacific-space-centre.bc.ca/]H.R. MacMillan Space Centre[/link] like [link=http://pacific-space-centre.bc.ca/gr_station_details_dangerous.htm]Space: A Dangerous Place (Piloted vs. Unpiloted flight)[/link] and [link=http://pacific-space-centre.bc.ca/planetarium_details_flying_future.htm]Flying Into The Future (100 Years of Flight and Beyond)[/link] which open on March 15th. This idea has really intensified as a result of the tragic loss of the Space Shuttle Columbia recently. [face_sad]

As we could easily put together a group of over ten of us, we could easily get a group/reduced rate for admission. [face_happy] Also, one of our esteemed members works at the [link=http://pacific-space-centre.bc.ca/]H.R. MacMillan Space Centre[/link]; hence, I?m sure he?d be willing to be our guide as well: a definite bonus! [face_wink]

    The movies sounds cool. :)

    And that convention r0x0rs! :D

Firstly, as this event is being put on by Douglas? Student Union, don?t you have to be a member (a Douglas College student) to obtain admittance (as they are offering free food)?

No. I asked when I was at the Pancake Breakfast on Tuesday. Why would I have given it the consideration of being a FF event if you couldn't come?

Also, I?m a little unclear on the location; specifically, is the Upper Lounge of the SUB a year-round pub?

It's a Lounge bulding. There is a small caf (That I've never seen used except for events such as this), a small store, and a bunch of arcade games there. They will sell beer, but they won't to anyone who is over 19. (And I don't think any of us are...) Think of it more as a study hall area.

Lastly, as you have been there before, can you tell me whether or not they allow minors there? confused.gif

Well, I'm not too sure. But since they said that admitance isn't limited to College students, I don't think so.

If you want, I can find out, if it will make you feel better.

"I'm confused - are they releasing two feature length Matrix sequels in the same year?"

Yes, ma'am. ;) I remember reading that there was some specific reason for it (E.g.: financial, etc.), but it has slipped my mind and I can't seem to find an article on it. :( Something though, that I didn't know but that I just found out was that Monica Bellucci will be starring in both films. Well, I am not sure if it has been put up yet. The Chinese New Year Parade is on Feb 2, 2003, at Chinatown, in front of the SUCCESS building. It starts at noon and last around 1 hr as the parade circles around Chinatown.
It will be one loud parade. If you have the time you should come and see.

I, unfortunately, won?t be able to make it on Thursday, Alex. :( I have an important class every Friday; hence, I'm usually reading madly the night before. [face_shocked] But thank you for the gracious offer and I hope you have a fun time on Thursday. ;)

    [li][hl=floralwhite][link=http://www.coastandmountains.bc.ca/page.cfm/6088]Chinese New Year Festival[/link]: February 2, 2003.[/hl][/li]

Notes: Okay, I am totally down for checking out the Chinese New Years Festival (specifically, the Chintatown Parade) on February 2. [face_grin] I?ve never watched it before, but I?ve always wanted to. Since I know very little about it though, I am really looking for someone who has a little familiarity with it to step forward and help out putting this Activity together. Specifically, I looking for advice on good locations in Chinatown to watch it. As you suggested Leo, in front of the SUCCESS Building is a definite possibility; as is the [link=http://www.vancouverchinesegarden.com/events/evt.htm]Dr. Sun Yat-Sen Classical Chinese Garden[/link]. Also, I imagine space is going to be a premium down there; hence, how early should we get down there? [face_confused]
